For those Mac OS X 10.4 users among us, go to
http://www.dashboardwidgets.com/showcase/details.php?wid85 for an SR4
dice roller widget.

Those not on a Mac but who want to try it out too, without the benefit
of Dashboard (http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/dashboard to see what
you're missing), can download it as well. Just unzip the file and go
into the SR4 Dice.wdgt directory that comes out of it, then double-click
on the file SR4 Dice.html. You need a browser capable of handing
Javascript and cascading style sheets (CSS). However, note that the only
environment in which the thing was tested, was OS X 10.4.2, so I cannot
guarantee anything if you try it on a Windows machine or something :)

And once again, thanks to everyone who contributed translations to this
widget :)

Excellent work man,

I did a quick test on Linux/Firefox and it performs _almost_ great...The
main thing is you get results and sorts the dice!

- Firefox, especially in Linux, has a funny way of presenting stuff and
when the page loads it sometimes fails to load some images (all th
eplaceholders for the dice appear as broken images : two lines of 8 dice
each and nothing seems to work when you click on it while the page keeps
trying to load something?
- I am guessing it is the mouse event catching model you are using but I
am not sure why but for some stupid reason it won't let you add a die
after 9 and if you ferociously click on it it might even go up to 10!!!!
I looked at your code, I even added some alert() 's for checking and I
can't understand WHY for the love of Ghost it does it!!!!
-Finally (and this is prolly my fault) I couldn't get th elocalisation
to coe into play...How does it know? do I just change the page encoding
to Greek for example(that didn't work)? or does it try to find th
esystem's encoding?
I haven't found why yet but I will let you know as soon as I got it
pegged for either of the above issues

(they might be redherrings)

I'm guessing you meant this as a private reply? However, I've kept the
response on-list because other people may have a use for it :)

It _should_ load properly... It doesn't do anything funny, just set the
unused dice icons to be invisible.

*checks in Firefox for OS X*

Ah, yes, I think I see what the problem is: as long as the text box is
empty, the dice icons show up as a "missing image" pic. Type a number
into it and hit Tab, see what happens.

No problems with that on my end (Firefox 1.0).

That's because you're not running it in Dashboard :) What happens when
Dashboard loads a widget, is it checks if there is a directory for your
system's preferred language. If so, it will attempt to load all files
from that directory; if a desired file isn't there will it load from
your next-preferred language, and so on until it has run out of options,
in which case it loads the file from the widget's root directory.
However, all this is built into OS X (other apps work much the same way)
and is not something a web browser will do -- so if you're running it
that way, you'll only get the English version.

Dashboard is just giving me the German version... I'll have to see if
my system is set funky, but I've not yet had anything decide to give
me German before... Is there a way to force which localization it
chooses, maybe a preference...

Anyways, that mystery aside it looks great.

Hmm... could be that's because I didn't include an English
localization... Maybe I should :)

In the meantime I have just removed the localization directories and
all is well.

How do we get a different language ? Mines just coming up in Germa. Shouldn't it
do it automatically ?

The problem is that I forgot that it won't use the (English) defaults if
you have any other languages in your system's language preferences. This
will be fixed in v1.1, together with the added feature that the widget
will report it if you rolled a glitch :)

Anyway, the easy solution is as Adam Brown suggested: go into the bundle
(Ctrl-click on the widget's icon and choose to show the bundle's
contents from the menu that appears), and then just delete all the
directories whose names end in ".lproj".

Another way is to open your system preferences, go to languages, and
delete everything from the list except English -- but this could affect
other programs, so it's not the option I'd recommend :)
