Well Chummers,

Call me old and crotchety! But between my current lack of funding and
exorbitant amount I've already spent on 2nd and 3rd editions, not to mention the
years I've spent learning those two systems, I think I'm going to sit this
current "upgrade" out. Yes, it seems you can put me into the camp of "hate
it"
along with whoever else might be with me. If it ain't broke, don't frag with it!
And as far as I'm concerned SR3 wasn't broke.

Now maybe I'll come around on this, but before you start holding your breath
on that I should point out that I also play D&D and that even now I'm still
only considering giving 3rd edition of that system another try and even then
only if somebody else learns it and runs it. Yes, I'm set in my ways. That's
largely because I like my ways better than the way they've been changed to.
4th edition may be the game, at least as far as what you can find with ease,
but there isn't all that much that I hadn't gotten around to picking up in 3rd
edition and what I don't have the canon for I do have a good imagination for
filling in the blanks.

Beyond this, you can have your 4th edition, and if you enjoy it more power
to ya. But I hope the older editions haven't been banned from this list because
that's where my knowledge and experience base is and any questions I post
will be in relation to that system. Don't worry, I'll put a tag to that effect
or otherwise make it clear in any posts that I put up so as to minimize
confusion. ::grins:: And it doesn't mean that I won't give or offer advise when
4th edition questions come up. I'll try to learn as much as I can and use my
imagination to fill in the gaps. Just don't take my answers as gospel...which I
hope nobody's been doing anyway! =)

Why would they be banned? Yes, there was some heated debate over SR4
recently, and some people may _feel_ like earlier editions are banned,
but IMHO that's mainly because those same people are the ones who insist
on denouncing fourth edition every time the subject comes up, and many
others got fed up with that ;)

I feel no need to denounce it just because I don't happen to feel like
relearning the rules. I'm sure the new rules in all likelihood are better. I just
don't have a whole lot of money and I happened to like the old rules just fine.
But if 4th edition is for you, more power to ya. The point is, Shadowrun kicks
ass no matter which edition you're playing or even if you're just sitting
down with the old Sega cart. Can I get an amen?
