A little aside on the SR-71 - I remember seeing a clip in a documentary once
where they said that (as of 1989) the SR-71 had been attacked by the Soviets
over one thousand times with no successes. Supposedly, one of the Soviet
ground to air missiles was specifically designed for the Blackbird, and
still no kills.

I saw one do an overflight at an airshow at Homestead AFB a couple of years
back - beautiful plane.

Flare,
Alas the black bird has been done for at least two years and will not be reac
tivated any time soon. Pity that. But emember the Black Bird was built in the g
ood old days of the mid-sixties. most of its tech is twenty years old, not bad
od malfuntionong mind you. If I remamber right it was killed some time in the B
ush presidency in favor of more spy sats and such.
