Here we go again. For the newer members of the list - and the older
ones who haven't voted yet - you've got another week or two to vote in
the inaugural Shadowrun Academy Awards. If you've voted, check the
categories anyway. Some of them may be new to you, or your votes may
have changed.

The categories follow...

Best Adventure (inc. any PURE module - e.g. not including the NAN
sourcebooks, or Mob War)

Best Adventure/Sourcebook (i.e. anything with an adventure (or five)in
it that doesn't fall into the above category - inc. Mob War, NAN
sourcebooks, Blood in the Boardroom, Universal Brotherhood)

Best Novel

Best People, Place and Thingy Sourcebook (e.g. Cyberpirates, Tir
Tairngire, Threats)

Best Rules Sourcebook (e.g. BBB1, 2 and 3, Rigger 2, Awakenings)

Best Artwork in a Shadowrun Book (which book contains your favourite
artwork?)

Favourite Shadowrun Artist (self explanatory)

Best Fiction in a Sourcebook (this covers ANY sourcebook with fictional
material - as opposed to game material - in it (a short story, the
'Shadowland logs' etc.))

Best Actor in a Shadowrun Drama (in other words, pick your favourite
character - any character - from any of the adventures, sourcebooks or
novels).

Best Shadowrun Product (this is an overall category - just your
absolute favourite Shadowrun product EVER).

And, just for fun, the Hall of Infamy..
Worst Shadowrun Product Ever (another overall category - the Shadowrun
product you detest most).

Mail me privately if you wish to vote. If you have any ideas for
categories you think I've forgotten, let me know.

Its not pretty easy to discern the awards, but mine go as follows :

Best adventure : Harlequin's back, the better and more complete i saw, and
can enjoy different settings

Best adventure/sourcebook : Blood in the Boardroom, my fav, since i found
it good written, and good explained, and it was my first corp book, easier
to enjoy

Best novel : Burning bright : the best written, and the prelude story of
the containment zone, read it in few times, all at once, the more
recommended IMO

Best People, Place and Thingy Sourcebook, i enjoyed a lot threats, tir
tairnig, underworld sourbook and few others, but i have to give it to
cyberpirates, i did'nt expected much from that book, but surprise, it went
one of my favs, if not my fav book. It was well written and gave ideas of a
new world, different and similar to usual shadowrunners

Best rules sourcebook : Magic in the shadows, i just liked it a lot, it was
easier and funnier to read then the previous magic books, even if there
were'nt any fictionnal material.

Best artwork : its though to say, the images are soso to good, but could be
better for sure. Though, fast, if i remind the best positive feedback i had
for those were Aztlan sourcebook and Underworld sourcebook, they were well
made, comparing to target:smuggler havens and the Yamatetsu part of Blood
in the boardroom, who were not really great.

Favorite shadowrun artist : I have to say that i dont remember of any
artist, though i will change that part, and say that my fav sr worker is
Nigel Findley, who wrotes the best book, or at least, better written then
most.

Best Fiction in a Sourcebook : I give it to Corporate Download, which i
loved, and passed through real fast. Sure it was my first corp book, my
other is just BitB, but was great ( the others being on the mail from
ebay..... )

Best Actor in a Shadowrun Drama, its easy for me, its Argent, which is so
cool, though i have to say that i did'nt read one of the new books where he
is said to be munchy, so my choice may be different, but my fav anyway, was
the more flashy sammy/merc

My fav product, well, really hard to tell, maybe the rigger black book,
maybe just because he was the first book of rpg i ever saw, and i fell in
love with those things at that time, and i was attracted to car of
different universe, i think it s

The hall of infamy, the sprawls cite book was not really great, there's
just the maps usefull, and not much, the encounters being poor at 90% of
the time

Phillippe,

There _isn't_ any fiction in Corporate Download.

This must be a Seraphim plot to destabilise the
awards. Damn Cross Agents, gotta have their
fingers in every pie.

Sorry to have written it for everyone, forget to address it personnally, but
Manx, corporate download is made of 80% if not more, of runners comments,
there's just the last part who is not fiction

What Manx meant, Phillipe, is that runner comments/shadowtalk is not
perceived as fiction, in this sense. AFAIK, by fiction, they mean embedded,
and lengthy, in-character texts, like Hatchetman's description of
cybermancy, or the story of Rennie. The opening story at the start of the
various BBB's would also count.

A summary of a corp, supposedly written by a runner, with shadowtalk
embedded, wouldn't be fiction for the purposes of the awards (though, of
course, it would be fictional).

Good definition, Robert, but incorrect in this case. I'm actually
accepting the "shadowtalk" as fiction. If you'll note the category
description...

Best Fiction in a Sourcebook (this covers ANY sourcebook with fictional
material - as opposed to game material - in it (a short story, the
'Shadowland logs' etc.))

Now, normally I wouldn't call it that, but in this case there are very
few sourcebooks that have "heavy fiction" content. So I'm trying to
keep things as broad as possible.

One person picked the Germany sourcebook for a pair of entries
regarding nudist colonies (I looked it up - it's rather funny :) ). Now
I think that's good - if corny - fiction, so why shouldn't it be
allowed.

Anyway, just to clear the matter up. If you're voting and you like the
shadowtalk in a particular sourcebook better than any other "fiction"
section in any other sourcebook, yes, you can vote for that as Best
Fiction in a Sourcebook.
