But not as a substitute for "fuck." I have to admit it's better than
"frack" since it's/appears to be based on a real word.

Somebody said (on the list, I think) that it's Russian and means "shit."
Since the only Russian I know consists of a few words relating to
military vehicles, I'm not sure how true this is...

Especially because "ass" gets used in the same books as "hoop" :)

With all the American TV shows, movies, and music we get, he thinks we
learn British English... <rant> The majority here speaks English with an
exaggerated American accent, not to mention they mangle the words so some
are almost unrecognizable (or should that be unrecognisable? I can do
both! :) and throw in Dutch expressions that none of you would ever
understand... </rant>

GOD! You're telling ME!

I was really surprised by that.
All the other european countries (Like france and germany) have distinct
accents, but when I spoke to people in Holland <duck> last fortnight....

What DOES a Dutch accent sound like???
I've forgotten....
