<grin>

A few of you may remember a LONG time ago the idea of a Monopoly/Shadowrun
conversion :] This was just after Star Wars Monopoly came out, and there
are like Monopoly sets for everything thee days.

Well, a while back, at the local Game Keeper (And Board gaming, and now,
WOTC retail shop) I saw this neat little thing:

Make-your-own Monopoly :]

That's right... Coems with blank board/cards for making your own set, as
well as Software to make do the cards and stuff up nicely...

I'm considering getting this around Christmas, or just after if it goes on
sale.... if I do, I'm thinking some SR mini's and an all night Shadowopoly
game at O2K and GC2000 :]

Someone else is in charge of the ShadowClue game :]

ShadowClue wouldn't work....random card picking means we'd end up
with Lofwyr, in the Teocalli, with the Tickle-Me-Dunky. Weird...

Ya know, this *would* be really fun now that I think about it. What have you
got in mind for the various properties?

Don't forget the good news/bad news cards

Runners get hired for run - get 100 nuyen
Runners get eaten by bugs - lose 100 nuyen

Go to the Renraku Arcology, do not pass go, do not collect 200 nuyen...

Oh come ON!!!! Sure it'll work, think about it. Lofwyr is really the head
of the blood mages, and the tickle-me-dunky is the "Idol" (Bottled Demon) in
disguise....

Oh no way, not going to forget the "bad news" cards (Chance and Community
Chest btw...we've got Monopoly CD-ROM here). It could be a lot of fun
designing these out, but I don't actually have the CLUE game any more, so I'm
just not sure. Anyone else have ideas?

How about:

The players are Shadowrunners who are trying to find out what happened to
their Johnson (who never showed up to pay them for their last run). They
fan out into the streets of Seattle to look for clues and check their contacts.

The Shadowrunners have to find out:

Where he is.

His current disposition (dead, hiding, etc.)

And who: killed him, he's hiding from, etc.

Here's an alternative idea.

The players play corporate VPs who have gotten word that one of the many
groups of Shadowrunners in Seattle has been hired to hit one of the Megas.
The VPs send their resources (pieces) into Seattle to find out:

Which group of Shadowrunners have been hired.

What their job is (extraction, sabotage, steal data, etc).

Who they are going to hit (one of the Megacorps).

Whichever VP figures it out first can use the information in the world of
Megacorporate politics.

Another:

The players/runners have been hired to guard someone. Problem is he died, and
before any evidence could be gathered, his body was stolen. The manager of his
estate says he'll pay the full fee to the first runner who finds out:

1)Who killed him

2)Where the body is

3)Why he was killed
OR
3)What he was killed with

Oh I like this one...So who's going to be working on this SRClue game
huh?? (: And will that person then bring it to Origins...I've never been
to either Con and decided that in 2000 I'll be going to Origins since I can
visit a friend of mine there at the same time...and now everyone keeps
talking all about Gen Con...*weep*. I hope Origins is good too.

This would fit in with the standard CLUE game out there. The only thing is that you'd
have to put him in a place, like the Arcology or a mansion, or something like that.
Otherwise just having Seattle as the playing area would be HUGE! How's about we form
a ShadowRN CLUE committee?

Well, not neccecarily. After all, one of the best ways to do it would be to
keep the basic 'board' layout and rename the various 'rooms' into various
seattle locations.

I do thinkwe should proobly get organized and take most of it off the list,
though. And since I was the one who started this, count me in on it.

Count me in, too. I was thinking more in broad terms than the whole city, btw.
Like The Corporate HQ, the Hotel Room, The Bar, The Warehouse, etc.

This is so fun.. :)

After we decided about the cards, somebody should come out with the location
names and then a layout for the board. I could then finally put to good use
my color printer :)

I would help, but it has been so much time since I played Monotony... uhm,
maybe Dvixen....

Someone did a statistical analysis of the original version of the
Monopoly game, and found that when all factors were considered (dice
rolls, and moves listed on the Chance and Community Chest cards) St.
James' Place was found to be the property most likely to be landed
on.

If you're just doing a straight renaming conversion, without changing
any of the actual mechanics, then whatever you rename St. James'
Place to, should be a place with a reputation for being a runner
hangout. I recommend the Club Penumbra.

A lot of this would vary widely IMO. I know the statistics are there, but
there was a "hot spot" determined for each side of the board, and whether or
not it was your first time around, or your following times.

As for playing pieces, this should be easy. FASA/Ral Partha provides those.
Your corporation's fixer has hired you to go out and "aquire" all the stuff
out there. Each place on the board is a "run".

Utilities could be the Matrix (Electric Company) and Council Island (Water
Works).

Railroads are the major criminal syndicates (Yakuza, Mafia, Seoulpa, Triads)
(yes, I know there's more, this is a quick version).

"Jail" is Lone Star (which makes the cards for "Get out of Jail Free"
having
some lone-star symbol on it as well).

Free-Parking could be just that, FREE PARKING, or alternatively "I-5" (or
whatever Interstate Hwy that is).

Chance could be titled "Karma"

Community Chest could be titled "Payoffs"

Money is simple enough (Nuyen values instead of dollar values)

Redmond Barrens and Payallup get to be the first two places, with "Governors'
Mansion" and "Corporate Council" getting to be "Park Place" and
"Boardwalk".

Other places could vary widely.

ideas for some of the cards might include favorite "site names" in their
descriptions.
