First, the Shadowplay rifle (I thought) was using a
round with Californium(?) that, upon impact, decided
to go critical. Using the 'China Syndrome' it ate through
the armor and the person. But it has been a long time
since I read it.
Second, UV, not X-ray, is what Vamps hate. That's why
none of them go to a tanning salon. 8)

ITNR Rounds - Impact Triggered Nuclear Reaction Rounds

__________ _
/|1|2| 3 V |
|4| | | | |
\|_|_|_____|_| (excuse the drawing *sheepish grin*)

4 = Impact-triggered charge
1 = roughly wedge-shaped mass of U235 (or is it 238? Hell, I don't remember.)
2 = seaGEL spacing medium (aka blown agar gel w/o the water. It floats on co2)
3 = rest of uranium

On impact, the charge is supposed to blow 1 back into 3 with an incredible
velocity, thus obtaining critical energy and creating a small nuclear explosion
on the target.

This is also known as AMBD ammo - A Munchkin's Best Dream =)

What's the China Syndrome? Thermonuclear core meltdown. Unless my
memory is incorrect,it's when the rods in a nuclear reactor get too hot,
either from lack of coolant or some other reason. The final result is a
meltdown. Try to resist that with a straight body roll... :)

Obviously written by someone who doesn't know their firearms :). You don't
use DU for anti-personnel work. It's too expensive, and very dangerous to
work with. Tungsten is just as good, if not better, and cost a hell of a
lot less.

Oh, did I mention that uranium is a toxic substance?

M> What's the 'China Syndrome'?

``The China Syndrome'' is a movie about a nuclear reactor melting down.

China Syndrome. Not only does it melt, it decideds to use
_anything_ it touches as fuel to keep the reaction
going. Earth, dirt, ores, minerals. Supposedly if this
ever happened the core would eat a hole to china. *grin*
Riiight. But still a nasty situation. Check out the movie
called China Syndrome for better explaination.

Obi Wan:
The China Syndrome was a movie based on a nuclear reactor meltdown. The name of
the movie was taken from a term used to define the effects of a meltdown, in
that the core would get so hot that it burrow its way down through the Earth to
China.

Mostly correct...said "China Syndrome" is like the paranoia that spread
during the testing of the A-bomb with setting the atmosphere on fire, except
that they feared if a reactor went to melt down and it went through the
sheilding it would dig itself a proverbial "Hole to china"...hence the name..
