I have beeen playing a PA with missile mastery for some time now and
was wondering what would happen in the following circumstances.

I have a throwing weapons skill of 10(15) and threw a grenade at a
group of corpsec guards. I rolled the 9 success on the test and then
rolled a scatter of 6 metres this means that the grenade landed at
exactly the spot I meant it to land but with 6 successes spare.

1. Do the extra success stage up the damage?
my thoughts to this are no.

2. As I have missile mastery, could I use the excess successes to hit
the target with the grenade (say it was targeted at the front guard)
in this case it would do 1/2 str light damage and have 6 successes.

3. Or do I just ignore the extra successes.

There was a discussion on this topic fairly recently and yes the
general answer that I gathered was 'no' if aimed for the middle of a
group. However if aimed at an individual then yes the grenade can be
staged.

I have no idea what missile mastery is!<grin>

Nice idea. I don't see why not (Of course, I now want to use this for a
Troll NPC of mine <grin>).

This is the way I play it. I can't see why it wouldn't work. It makes a
grenade just that bit more deadly.

I would say no. Doing damage with e.g. hitting the guard in his face with
the grenade before it explodes would be what you are suggesting above, am
I right?

However, for the grenade to land exactly where you want you
would not want it to hit something from which the grenade could bounce
off the target (e.g. the guard's head). IMO, a good throw would be one that
lands right at the targets feet or explodes in the air right when it is
about to hit the target (or if the target is a group of people, explodes
in the air above their heads).
