So with a normal HOP you just need 4 net successes to kill your target.

Now I want to fill the HOP with Explosive ammo, and suddenly I need 8 net
successe to kill the same target.

That's why the variable staging rules made no sense at all.

True, but the target also needs a lot more successes to not have any damage at
all. Which makes explosive ammo something you can use if you want to wound
someone but not kill them :) Or to use against targets that are too tough to kill
anyway, but which you can at least try to wound.

I wouldn't go that far. Probably the best way to do it, is to say all weapons
need 2 successes to be staged up, but the Staging number of the Damage Code in
order to be staged down by one level.

You do know that it does sound a bit lame, don't you?

At least that would make some sense.

But I still prefer the current rules.

Sure, but it's a use :)

As the Dutch saying goes: tastes differ. I like having a couple more stats for
weapons and things, as it makes just that bit more difference between otherwise
similar ones, and gives players a few more options.
