I've got a new bunch of players, who have some difficulty in understanding
how much a run is worth. It made me thinking...

How much is your typical run worth? I know that there are several parameters
(the kind of run, the general power in the canpaign, the lifestyles, etc.),
but do you use some sort of average "price list" when making an offer?

Like:
Wetwork = ?? nuyen
Datasteal = ?? nuyen
Extraction = ?? nuyen
Bodyguarding = ?? nuyen
Stalking = ?? nuyen
Background checking = ?? nuyen
etc.

Don't know, only one character in our campaign does wetowrork and he
normally picks off small time kills for 1-2K.

>Datasteal = ?? nuyen

Between 5 and 10K, normally closer to the 5K mark. Occasionally less.

>Extraction = ?? nuyen

See above.

>Bodyguarding = ?? nuyen

Depends who and what they may be facing. Bodyguarding a small time exec's
wife from a rival within the same corp, about 5K, protecting a maniac with a
big gun and tourettes syndrome from Lofwyr, a bit more.

>Stalking = ?? nuyen

Not sure, I haven't ever run such an adventure that I remember.

>Background checking = ?? nuyen

On the matrix? A couple of hundred, maybe as much as 1000¥ for a nasty
host.

Phil

Let us assume we have a can opener.

You really should consider the public image of your group and how they
present themselves. A Johnson's first offer is going to be the least
amount of money he thinks the runners will accept (erring on the low side,
of course). Set an upper bound on how much the Johnson is willing to pay
them based on the run itself and how much the Johnson can afford to pay.

If the group isn't willing to negotiate, let them get a reputation as
cheap deniable assets. They'll get more work, a proportion of it
unprofitable.
