It could simply be a case of the elves and dwarves 'goblinising' while in
the foetus stage. Or was it the timing you did not find logical?

Ray.

That I agree is the point when the transformation occur..as it would
have been the activation of a migically latent gene..And these
developing babies would havve been extremely suseptable to this
occurance...

It is the youthful position of the age of the Dwarves and Elves that
I do not find logical..The 2 races that have the longest [and very
unverified] life spans should only occur in infants..and not fully
developed examples..This placing the infants at an extreme
disadvantage in a world that had suddenly become
Meta-crazy/prejudice/hateful..Which should have pretty much made it
impossible for these two groups to come into any real power...While
those races that transformed while adults may have already had some
measure of power and would have been able to hold onto at least a
portion of it...This is what I don't find logical..and then the group
who has the most appearant power, our pointy eared friends, and then
there are the ones who should have the greatest amount of power and
have the least amount of appearant power, our troggy friends...

But then, elves and dwarves are closest to human. There are always
people of more-than-average height, and about the pointed ears ...
well, I think you don't notice these immediately, especially with
longer hair. Dwarves are not so common to the human, but small-grown
people are also not completely uncommun. The same as with the elves
about the ears.
In short, elves and dwarves seem human at first glance. If you're
really big and have those great tooth that trolls and orks have it's
more likely people tend to dislike you. Noone will take you as a normal
human, not even with a first glance.

But these two races are the ones which surely encounter the highest
opposition in their lives, so they surely have bigger problems with
education, jobs, organization etc. So I think it'sd rather logical that
these groups didn't (yet?) achive real power.
