Another question: I remember someone came up with an alternative Starting
Cash Table for the point system of chargen. It was broken down more, it
went in increments of 1 (I think), instead of 5. Could someone please send
that to me, or post it to the list. Thanks!

Paul Gettle did that; I don't have it handy at the moment, but if he hasn't
taken care of your need by the time I get home, I'll send it your way.

I did that too, and it's easy. Just take the difference between two
levels (5 points and 10 points), and divide by five. Add that number
to the lower point level, and you've got the next increment. I'm
pressed for time now, but I'll post it later if you want.

That would be me. I'm guessing you want the chart for SR3 (if you need
the numbers for SR2, let me know).

As you can see, under SR3, the minimum you can start out with is 500¥.
D. Ghost had suggested to me that I allow for 0¥ at a cost of -6 build
points, so I came up with the following flaw:

Flat Broke (6 pt. Flaw)
The character has no resources nuyen, and does not get to roll 3d6
x100¥ for starting cred. (This flaw may not be combined with spending
negative build points on resources nuyen.)

There's also the possibility that the GM and players would want to
continue the chart in the other direction, past 30 buildpoints. One
option would be to continue the smooth curve that's defined by the
numbers above, and I tested this out for 31 - 35 build points. The
nuyen amounts that resulted from trying to match the curve quickly got
_FRIGHTENINGLY_ high, so I won't bother to post them here.

Instead, I'd recommend simple slow linear growth in nuyen values for
buildpoints past 30. The number I suggest using is 25,000¥ per
buildpoint. For those of you who want it in a formula, that would be:

Resources ¥=((x-30)*25,000¥)+(1,000,000¥), where x is a number of
build points >= 30.

Why 25,000¥ per build point over 30? To go from 500¥ to 1,000,000¥ in
35 build points averages over 28k per build point. I felt growth after
the million should be a little slower in the interest of game balance,
and 25,000¥ is a very nice round number to work with.

Makes sense. I like. Did you do this just for resources, or
did you do a complete table?

Yes, it appears that it is you. Thanks for the information. Especially the
bit about going over 30 points (one character wanted 31 points, wouldn't you
know.). Thanks again.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking here. There was a table in the
post you replied to, and the post was about just resources and build
points, and nothing else. Could you explain your query a different
way?

(Sorry for the staleness of this reply, had to do a reinstall on my
computer and this is the first chance I got to check email)
