figured out how to turn the transporter in to an offensive weapon (have it
remove the flight deck crew of the pursuing vehicle) the GM could not come
up with a good reason why this would not work that also did not adversely
effect the rest of the game so that ships transporter "went down" for the
remainder of the short lived campaign. The limits placed on the show's
writers
reflected themselves in the lack of a frame of reference for the use of the
equipment that could be applied when used by individuals without those
outside imposed limits.>>>>

Transporting anti-matter, plasma, or various toxins directly onto the
enemy bridge would also work nicely, but shields normally prevent scanner
locks and transport during combat. Sheesh, give the writers SOME credit,
eh?

I remember at least one episode and a couple of books where they
specifically tried (sometimes succeeded) to get the enemy to lower their
shield - then you send over troops or materials to take over/destroy the
enemy vessel. Not exactly a brand-new idea, but still pretty clever if you
can fool your enemy into cooperating.

Incidentally, we did something very similar during one of our games - we
were trying to get a sleeping gas of some sort (I don't remember what it
was called, it was something the fixer got for us) into a building, but
couldn't figure out how to get it in without exposing ourselves. So I
dressed up in my best I'm-supposed-to-be-here outfit and knocked on the
door. The mage had used the levitate spell to hold the container above the
door. While I talked to the guard, in went the container. When I left and
he shut the door, he had no clue that anything had gotten past him. Two
minutes later the timer went off and we went in. It was beautiful *sob* -
the GM never gave us a chance to repeat that particular trick, though.
