The Why Are SR weapons mostly old tech debate carries on.
FASA say "they just are, right!"
S. S. RAT said that proper 2050 battlefeild weapons are 100%
accurate one-hit one-kill systems a while back.
Perfectly true

I think you should use New technology weapons as Very Lethal. but
they're very expensive and hard to get hold of. Runners are not
gonna lug around a full body exoskel wt search/seak/kill missile
system, as the COPS are gonna spot ya in seconds and drop a
military reaction team onto you...and them you're up against
more peaple with better training and equal tech.
Short life.

Runners will use small, easily carried/hidden weapons rather
than cannons or manpack missiles.
Only if they get stuck in a WAR will they need those big toys.
Let the latest tech exist, but be useless to players running a
citys streets.
(Ever tried hiding a Gauss sniper rifle wt a 2m barrel under
your coat?)
