Since some people proposed the idea of a spirit bound in a fetish sword
I would start astring with ideas as to HOW such a thing be intergrated
in the SR gaming system.
and the mention of an astral only artifact is also beguiling.
Could a sword have these two abilities

Ideas anybody?

I got some fiction....that I just made up on the fly...hmm..lets
see...physical form destroyed but was strong enough to survive on the
astral and can manifest at will. I would have to clasify something like
that as an artifact(I have magic for mundies btw. talismans, healing
pots, fun stuff :^). then theres items of power. magic flaming swords,
ring of lightning with charges, etc. finaly, there is the Artifacts.
ultra powerful tools that will appear in the worlds time of need
situation. always sentient.)
if anybody wants to know the fiction I just got for the astral sword
e-mail me. if enough people want to know, I will post to the list.

Here's an old one of mine:
The PCs get involved in a fairly straghtforward vampire hunt (easy run,
minimal complcations <EGMG>) and manage to relieve him of his force 2 weapon
focus. The vamps got some slightly funny powers but I've always had novice
players and no-ones ever noticed. Almost inevitably, a mage or adept decides
to bind this free weapon focus. Then the fun starts.

The backstory goes: long ago (I was thinking during Earthdawn times, but it
doesn't matter) there was a powerful demon who couldn't be destroyed but a
bunch of bad-ass mages kicked his ass and chained him up in a nether plane.
However, prior to this happening he used a variant of Hidden Life on a sword
that effectively enchanted it. The sword is actually dimly sentient and has
one goal - to manipulate the aura of which ever poor fool binds it,
gradually transforming the character into a receptacle for the demon. This
results in some vampire-like abilities, but not actualy HMHVV infection.

The players generally take *ages* to find out whats going on, but the kicker
is that the longer they keep the sword, the more powerful the bound
character gets. I dangle loads of power in front of them whilst leaving them
in the knowledge that one day they will be sufficiently transformed for the
demon to re-enter the mortal plane through their body, at which point mucho
bad stuff happens.

Yes, this is loosely based on Stormbringer :o)
