There's no MECH here, but a REALLY interesting idea is an absolutely
horible disease to have if a char is cybered. A disease which turns the
body's immuse system against any unnatural foreign objects, mainly
cyberware. Of course, the cure/antidote/etc. is ALWAYS REALLY HARD TO
FIND, and would require an adventure (which can be USUALLY completed JUST
before the diseased char kicks off. :) The disease turns cyberware into
dead weight at the first stages, then in advanced stages, cyberware will
go into random convulsions. Symtoms are endless, tailor this to the
campaign. Have fun. Call it, let's see, Akira's Anti Cyber Immuo
Disease/Difficiency. I don't know. AACID!

We've used this concept, not as a disease, but the product of certain
healing spells, or events. Healings from pools blessed by unicorns,
'divine' intervention, or healings from people (who are real powerful) and
who are'real' anti-tech.
The healings from this line of reasoning is that some tech or mech is
unnatural. Healings of MAJOR powers would/might cause some regeneration.
The body might reject some tech. Dosen't always happen but, has a FEW
times. A couple had to have false fingers taken off cause of partial
regrowth, some had
nerves reconnect, some had to have surgery a few weeks latter to 'fix'
cyberware so it would work again.
Pity the samari who says, "I'd give anything to be healed...." Sometimes they
do..
