OT (Off topic): As when my girlfriend buys a small package of sanitary =
towels, because the large package is too expensive (the fact that the =
price per towel is lower for a large package, and that the large package =
lasts longer, eludes her).
:-)
I love her very much anyway.

OT (On topic): My experience with RL guns comes from high-caliber =
assault rifles (that is 7.62 mm). We learn NOT to try and control the =
recoil, but to move with it instead. This way, when you fire your rifle, =
you are "kicked" half a meter backwards, but if you're in balance you =
automatically move back into the same firing position again, ready to =
fire the next shot a split-second later.
Of course, this is experience from a shooting-range not in hectic =
combat...

I learned to fire a M-60 machine gun from the shoulder this way. Lean
forward before shooting, then roll back with the burst. If you keep
the burst in the three to five round range it works well, and is
suprisingly accurate at short to medium ranges. Mind you, I only
fired a M-60 on the range. I was in the Reserves before I was
assigned as the gunner on a M-60. Then only till the Battalion
Commander changed, the acting CO did not see the logic of a Captain
as machine gunner. But that is yet another story.
