My experience is that short campaigns with a clearly defined beginning and
end works better than lown, drawn-out campaigns. It makes it easier for the
GM (and the players) to maintain a theme, and generally makes the campaign
less resemblant of a TV soap. It also means that you can play out several
short campaigns with different styles (I plan to play trough both the
Harlequin books in the campaign I'm about to start, so it will not be THAT
short...=)

I kind of like the dark, gritty style in Cyberpunk 2020 and other similiar
games. However, I am playing Shadowrun and not CP2020 because the Shadowrun
world is more exotic, detalied, and, well... funnier. I am trying to
combine that dark grittiness with the fantascic elements that are unique to
Shadowrun; dragons, magic and so forth. I also find the concept of
immortals fascinating. The Harlequin adventures are present a good
opportunity
to find out more about those grand, hidden plotines... (my players does
not know that much about the Shadowrun. All the more fun for me. )

I also plan to make a shorter adventure/mini-campaigns for use in a
tournament. Here I will emphasize the weirdness that's unique to Shadowrun.
(I am currently working on John Lennon as a shamanic totem, for example.)

->Even.
