An ally in a sword would be a dual natured critter. It is a means
to get spells to the physical from the astral. Grounded is just a
convenient term, but incorrect. They do not get their force to try to knock
down the spell the way a focus would. You cannot hide a link to an ally,
only a focus I don't know how this got confused.

Wrong, nowhere did it say that manifest spirits are also astrally
active it says they are physically manifest temporarily.

I hope there are no more unresolved statements I lost some mail.

How did you arrive at this conclusion? It would seem logical
to me that an ally, as a sentient astrally active being, should
be allowed to enter into astral combat with a spell in the exact
same way that a magician can.
