Actually... that does sound kind of neat. How would the spirit approach
the host.

Yes, there is communication between the host and the spirit,
before the bonding occurs. The bonding occurs through a
karma transfer not through sucking essence. Sucking
essence is parasitic and not what this spirit is about.
