bit on what Rob and Quiktek have already commented upon: the capacity of
a cyberdeck to accept other decks.
I have a little option on my telecomm software called "Be a Host Computer".
With it, the computer waits for a computer-type call to come in over the
line. I can restrict certain phone numbers, make it local-calls only, and
even put in a password or two (low-level Access IC, making it a Green node).
So you CAN hook up to this calibre machine. BTW, the Steve Jackson Games
BBS is run off an Amiga 2000, not too heavily modded.
I can go with not being able to use the persona progs of the other deck.
Assuming they need to be hardwired to run efficiently, and you can't run
any program unless it's in your deck, it makes sense that they can't be
used.
Rob: You forgot, they can finger your machine as well :)
And yes, there should be a time lag--but I think there should be a time lag
for each computer system node you're routed through as well. Like when I
telnet to UPS and get this horrible lag time. But that's another subject
entirely.
