note that the 30mm cannon there is more of a gatling gun or autocannon
and a similar gun is found in most aircraft (many are only 20mm) "tank
gun" is not A precise term, since even the big guns have sizes ranging from
105mm to 125, and smaller (and older) tanks use 75mm guns. Nonetheless, many
of those round types mentioned can be used on those smaller guns.
Incidentally, the army once tried to give an M60 a 167mm gun that could
fire missiles as well as actual rounds. I can't recall the reason why, but
when you consider the "standard" or at least most common artillery calibre is
about 155mm, maybe tey considered the rounds to be too big.
