Yup - I know of at least one person that's bought it at a local gaming
store, and heard from other people that other stores are saying it should
be available this week.

Go forth and pester ye shop-owners!

Perhaps it's a dumb question but what's supposed to be in it and how
much is it list pricing at?

http://www.shadowrunrpg.com/products/tal.html has the rundown:

Target: Awakened Lands
If the Mana Storms Don't Get You... the Bunyips Will
"You think Bug City was bad? Chummer, you ain't seen nothin' like
Australia's Outback. Mana storms sneak up on you, dropping acid or fire or
turning your transport into melted slag. You can run for cover, but the
cave you hide in may actually be some astral mirage that doesn't really
exist. If you're lucky, Awakened dingoes won't eat you and you'll crawl
back to the sprawl... only to die of thirst when you don't have the cred to
buy precious drinking water."

Target: Awakened Lands features areas where magic is wild and
unpredictable. It focuses on Australia, a land scarred by violent mana
storms and infused with potent Dreamtime Aboriginal magic. It also
describes new fluctuations in magic like astral rifts to the metaplanes and
details other magical locales, from the slithering Cambodian jungles to the
spirit-haunted heights of Kilimanjaro. For use with Shadowrun, Third Edition.

And... what's the problem. A decent GM can make a great RPG-experience with of
any set of rules, even things like GURPS, TWERPS and SR, so why not
Hackmaster/AD&D 1st Ed.

In any case I cut my teeth on AD&D, and I enjoyed it. Without AD&D I proberly
wouldn't have been playing SR, and neither would you.

Well, yes. Duh :] They sorta say that right on the book :]

See, that's the point. Old style hack and slash gaming. The game itself doesn't take
itself all that seriously...

Plus, you need to actually look through the book. The core of the rules are 1st/2nd Ed
D&D, true... But about 40% of the material is new, either rewritten 1st ed rules, or
a totally new addition alltogether. I mean, there's actually a fairly comprehensive skill
selection, edges/flaws, "open ended" damage and healing (If you roll your max
for a healing or damage spell or attack, you get to roll again :))... All of thesea re
excellent additions to the game. And I still haven't seen what's in the GMG.

Don't judge it based on what it was... It's not 1st edition D&D, even though it built
it's foundation on that game. It's Hackmaster. It's also designed to be fun.

Afterall, you measure challenges by their HackFactor. Come on, you know that sounds like
a blast :]

I've said it before... I don't play D&D for a serious Roleplaying experience. Even
the overblown and overpraised D&D3 doesn't lend itself well to serious roleplay...
The game is STILL designed to mow down dozens of orcs and goblins, rescue princesses, and
haul off crates full of gold and magic items. You can get more out of it if you really
want, but you can also just enjoy the game for what it really is: Hack and Slash :]

Hackmaster just does it with a sense of humor.

From the weekly new releases update from Leisure Games, it seems T:AL is now also
available in the UK, for about 12 pounds.

Very true....I've been playing AD&D since I was 8 and been DMing it
since I was 12 BUT my point was why waste the money on it when chances
are it's easier to find in the original form since they didn't change
anything at all in it

Ok....well I'll just rephrase my statement to this then.....I didn't see
anything different in it but hey if there's new stuff....still not gonna
waste the $$ to expand my way too huge D&D library any more than it is
cause D&D no matter what the name on it is is still D&D (and 3rd edition
D&D IS NOT D&D, it's a wizards of the coast creation to try to get more
kids to play D&D since all of us older peoples loved the game but had
already bought the expensive books and didn't have a need to go out and
waste our hard earned $$ on new books or "adventures" whenever they came
out especially since most good gamers don't like to do premade campaigns
and such because they are too cut and dry, if you don't like the way
it's going you've got to deal with it because it's a cut and dry, point
a to point b campaign.

I disagree. 2nd ed ADnD was no fun, poorly written, etc. 3rd
ed is a usable third generation game, almost in the same
race as RuneQuest, which is the good FRP game. [flame off]

the nice man said at LG.. so, its out "in the wild" in the UK, although
I'm not counting it as a confirmed sighting until I have it in my
hands...:-)
