Hmmm, not asking for much are we? Ok, here's what I

OK, from what I remember, Alice is (make that was) a
real live human, and one of the people involved in the
Echo Mirage attack on the virus that caused the crash
of 2029. Somehow, her mind got trapped in the Matrix,
while her body died. Since then, she's managed to
create a small corner of the Matrix that seems to
operate very much like a UV host: she thinks, things
happen. During her time with a meatbody, she and
Damien Knight were an item (though he had a different
name at the time). I can't remember the specific
reason for her hatred of Roxborough.

> Also, what about this AI "Mirage". He appears in
> Matrix, but ther's only basic information.
> When did he crashed Seattle grid?
> Where is it written (which novel)?

The only other real source of info on the AI known as
Mirage that I'm aware of is the novel Psychotrope,
which deals with the 10 minute period when he shut
down the Seattle RTG (on March 10th, 2060 I think).
You learn who created it, and why - something like a
US government developed computer program derived from
the initial virus that caused the Crash, and meant to
be used as either a means to train new deckers (in the
2030s) or as a weapon (can't quite remember). It got
forgotten, but was still running. After a suitable
amount of time gestating in it's own electronic
virtual juices: poof, a homegrown psychotic AI.

> What are his connections with Alice? (She's also
> connected to Mirage
> project)

The program that became the AI known as Mirage
developed after the Echo Mirage program. It was
derived from the initial virus that caused the Crash
of 2029, though the AI and the Alice don't have any
direct connection that I remember right now. Anyone
else?

> What about other AI's?

> Are there any more?

There aren't any others that I'm aware of. Morgan and
Deus share their own unique relationship, and don't
have anything really to do with Mirage, or Alice. I
haven't finished playing through the Arc shutdown or
Brainscan so I can't offer more than that.

BTW, even though you live in Poland, the DargonHeart
Saga and Psychotrope are available through Amazon or
Chapters or any other online bookseller. You can also
try eBay. They aren't that expensive. I wouldn't say
that they are a must read, but I thought they were a
good read (especially as far as RPG related books go).

If memory also serves me, she was also the wife of SR's current UCAS
president.
Both were EM. This brings up another point: Matrix Systems was founded by
2 surviving members of Echo. Heafner (sp?), Alice, and Damion Knight are
also suspected members.
Fastjack is also rumored to have been a member. That's 6. Anyone got
anymore?

Also, if you ever get a chance to look through Brainscan, I love that
picture in the back of Morgan (the one next to Dodger and Ronin) the one
with her smoking a cigerette.

Well it's been stated in the books and the man himself has denied that he was part of EM,
so FastJack wasn't. Dirk Montgomery's decker friend Buddy from the novel '2XS' was a
member. And there was a decker character from the novel 'Fade to Black', Azarel IIRC, that
was meant to be EM as well. He sold one of the main characters secret root access codes to
Fuchi's Manhatten datafortress. Damn but my memory retains some useless crap sometimes. :)

If you can, you might also want to have a look over on the ds forums. AFAIK there's been a
number of threads in the past that have covered this. Do a search on EM and they'll
probably turn up.

Last I remember, rumors placed Damien Knight as Major David Gavilan, leader
of the Echo Mirage deckers.

Psychotrope is also capable of engendering psychotropic reactions in humans
it contacts (thus the name); from memory this was engineered to try and
rebuild the deckers' brains after they all turned to mush. Psychotrope has
also been wandering around masquerading as the Deep Resonance, and creating
Otaku. In the eponymous novel, the AI creates the first five /adult/ otaku.

Do you know the cost of shipping this books to Poland.
Even from GB it is quite expensive and I can only spend enough for basic
sourcebooks.
I only need basic information to run my campaignes.

Thanx for the info.

Leisure Games (http://www.leisuregames.com) charges 20% of the book's
price, IIRC. I don't know about Poland, but it used to be that the price
of any given game book in a game stores here in the Netherlands was about
as the same as the price in the UK including postage.

IIRC one of the characters in the VR1 novella was also a member of Echo
Mirage. I think his name was Lucifer and he used a reality filter that
rendered the Matrix as hell or some such thing like that. That is if
memory serves correctly for me. It has been several years since I read
VR1 and I do not have ready access to it.

That’s my ¥.02 worth.

Memory, like fire, is radiant and immutable. While history serves only
those who seek to control it. Those who would douse the flame of memory
in order to put out the dangerous fire of truth. Beware these men! For
they are dangerous and unwise. Their false history is written in the
blood of those who might remember and of those who seek the truth.

Does anyone else get the impression that there are more survivors of Echo
Mirage than there were members in the first place? ;)

And if I recall right, Lucifer was killed. I think it was by that
Halberstien dude that is always doing stuff with kids and the matrix. I
guess I shouyld dig out VR1 and read it again.
