Okay, I've gone back in, and in addition to reading the above blurb over
several times, I combed through the book and tried to figure out just what,
under their rules, you can do with your Task Pool.
I haven't found much besides "Electronic Warfare". In fact, after that
blurb above, they refer you to the Electronic Warfare section. That's all
they refer you to. There are three relevant
concentrations/specializiations listed under "Electronics and Computer" in
their skills section.
Electronics>Control Systems
Electronics>Electronic Warfare
Computer>Software>Non-Matrix Programming
I have no idea what you use Control Systems for. It says that it's for
"actions working with a remote control deck". When you actually use that,
I don't know. I haven't seen a rule for it, but I only spent an hour
looking at the book, and I don't think that was nearly a thorough job. I'd
love to hear how others interpret this one.
The Non-Matrix Programming one is pretty funny too. You can add a number
of dice from your NMP spec. up to the pilot rating of a drone to the
Comprehension Test. This is because you are able to phrase stuff in ways
that are easier for a drone to understand. Cool. So then I'm thinking
that since NMP is a tech skill, you can use your task pool. Nope. It
specificially says that no other dice pools can be used for this test.
I can't find a bloody single use of a technical skill in the Sensors
section. It's all either Sensor rating or Flux raiting. I can think of
reasonable uses for it. But find no support in the book. Normally I'd say
I don't give a rats ass, but I'm playing a rigger in a coming campaign, and
I need all the support I can get. =)
One thing I thought was interesting was that you could theoretically use
Military Theory>Tactics>Vehicle Tactics and use your Task Pool, which is
what you use to determine the number of dice in your IVIS pool. I thought
that was kinda neat.
Anyone else?
