Greetings, all,

I know that Technomancers do not need comlinks to access the Matrix.
But what about receiving calls over the Matrix? Can a Technomancer's
innate ability have a phone number? What about physical interfaces? Can
a technomancer bypass the need for a sub vocal mic simply by thinking
what he wants to say?

Thanks

Tim

My understanding of it is he can make and receive phone calls
"virtually". That is, with his living persona doing the talking, and
appearing onscreen for the caller at the other end. His actual
meatself however has no way of physically recording his voice etc,
unless he goes out and buys a phone and a commlink, which kinda
defeats the point :)

God what a drag. I'd go out and buy a commlink just to
be able to forward people to the answer phone,
otherwise you wouldn't be able to use the 'Oh I had it
turned off' excuse. Being connected 24 hours a day
isn't always a good thing. Especially if you're trying
to avoid taking a call from an ex or family. ;)

Someone should have invented the 'answer machine' agent by now....

You could always just forward the number somewhere else when you don't
want to answer it :)

That is not necessarily true,

Remember that the new Wireless web has infinte places to store data...
Heck you can even store data on your home terminal and just keep the
home terminal as an active node to be able to save/transfer files to
it...

A complex or threaded form of "Edit" would allow the coping of any
data into such storage.

A technomaner that wants to get/make calls would need to:

1. Active subscribe to his home terminal and take calls from its
connection (the home ternimal would have a comcode). He could also
Spoof another commcode, but this would require more tests (signal
interception/decryption).

2. He could hack a comcode, creating a new "illegal" matrix account
which would allow him to make calls from whever he was (hacking either
the grid or a node with grid access).

My 2cp.. I would think most technomancers would use "shadow" voicemail
boxes and such places to get messages and then when they need to make
a call they hack a commcode.

(The following is my house-rule, not cannon)

In AR or VR... The voice, mannerisms, apperance would all be dictated
by the icon.

I rule that all datajacks and all commlinks automatically have a
"cybercom link" that translates thoughts into speech and vice versa
(only usable with a DNI like datajack or trodes).

So I do not think it is a stretch to say that a Technomancer
automatically has a "cybercom link" as part of their innate abilities
and can communicate via AR/VR without the need for input/output
devices. Makes sense with their connection to machines.
