I was thinking of making a character with a "thing" for toys ... Oh wait
... that sounds bad ...

Anyway, I wanted this to be a real addiction not just a preference for
electronic devices ... So how would it work? Willpower(6+number of weaks
since last tech purchase) test every week to avoid buying a new gadget?

I decided to just make it a roleplaying thing for this character but
thought It'd make an interesting flaw ...

There might be some advantages as well ... like adapting well to having a
low essence (this would be just roleplaying ...)

of course the tech purchased can't be all cyberware and guns and crap
like that ... the char would simply HAVE to have that new blender they
saw on the Home Shopping Network.

Mr. Johnson: "So you'll take the job?"
Technophile: "Sure ... I've had my eye on a new blender anyway ..."
Mr. Johnson: ????

:)

Just tweak the parameters on the Addiction flaw a bit. When looking over
the Shadowrun Companion for the first time, it occurred to me that a
character that was heavily stressed out by shadowrunning could have
an Addiction to antacids, as the paranoia could give him a permanently
upset stomach...

Look at Mark Walberg (sp?) in The Big Hit. He was a
hired gun and pounded Maalox like it was goin out of style.
