Speaking of goodies, here are a few items that my players
recently had use for.

Stealth Suit: Woven of spider silk and ruthenium fibers, this is
a head-to-toe enclosed suit along the vein of a body stocking. No
accessories of any kind can be worn beneath it, and if anything is worn
over it heat buildup will occur to the point of creating heat exhaustion
(see below).
Spider silk is extremely strong (by mass stronger than steel),
and resists efforts to tear or puncture it tremendously. Because it does
not tear, it distributes the impact over a wide area.
The suit has a Barrier Rating of 8, providing a Ballistic/Impact
armor of 8/8. However, this is modified in that unlike a regular (rigid)
barrier that will completely stop something with 8 power or less, the
suit will instead reduce the Wound Level by 1. So, a person wearing this
suit and shot with an Uzi (7M) will resist 2L. And yes, it will provide
half its rating (usually 4) in extra "Body" dice. Note that the suit
will be damaged by something of power level 9 or higher (like a Predator
II with explosive rounds), but use the Barrier Damage rules.
A person hit in this suit can usually pull the bullet out of the
wound by stretching the fabric. Same principle as Mongol silk armor.
There are suits with thicker weave, but this is a _Stealth_ suit.

Basic Cost: 30,000Y + 5000Y per point of Body (but the add-ons get pricey!)
Avail: 18/2 months Legality: 1-J Street Index: 4

Chameleon Option: Go to Shadowtech and buy Ruthenium fibers and
scanners (theoretically the fibers are already there but that's because
no one buys just the basic model). The gel-pack batteries will geek
after 30 minutes, but the "support electronics" _do not_ reduce the armor
rating of the suit.

Pattern Masker: A firmware option package to the chameleon
option, this is designed to mess with computer shape- and matrix-matching
algorithms by blurring and blending the edges of the wearers' outline;
in essence a smart program that concentrates processing at the silhouette
of the suit.
Cost: 10,000Y per rating. Game mechanically, it compares it's
rating versus the recognition software, but if the program has been
optimized against certain algorithms use double the rating. Generally,
when bought the opcodes work against all recognition software older than it.

Thermal Dam: Heat conducting filaments are woven in to dissipate
the heat into a chemical chill can. The can is nominally good for 120
minutes (2 hours), but apply the following conditions:
Hot Environment: Duration x 1/2 Cool Environment: Duration x 2
Moderate Activity (walking, talking) : Time multiplied by 2 (so 1 minute
of walking equals 2 minutes on the cans time) Heavy Activity: (running,
hiking, skiiing): Time x 4 Strenous Activity: (Sprinting, Combat)
Time x 8 Extra layers over suit: Duration x 1/2 per layer.
Cost: 5000Y per point of Signature, +4 Maximum. Double for body over 6.
Availability, Street Index, Legality same for all options as basic suit.

Sound Damper: Support electronics are stationed at strategic
points to sample sounds made by the user and generate the "anti-noise"
necessary to cancel it. [Note: we have this today] Cost: 10,000Y for
the processor/support + 5000 per point of Signature, +4 Maximum.

Ultrasound Spoofer: Requires Sound Damper, basically more
processing and higher quality emitters to fritz with Ultrasound. Rating
of spoofer opposes rating of sensor; if the spoofer generates less
successes the sensor sees through; equal successes means the sensor
detects "static"; greater successes fools the ultrasound completely.
Cost: 10,000Y per point of rating 1-5, 10,000Y times rating^2 for higher.

Scent Mask: Basically a high tech activated filter to remove
pheremones, ammonia, and other trace chemicals from gasses exhuded by the
wearer. Works on chem-sniffers and most chemical detectors. [For the GMs
out there, the one thing it cannot hide is the fact that a certain volume
of space is depleting oxygen and replacing it with CO2; so if the players
get too smug ... ]
Cost: 10,000 per point of Sig, +4 max.

Reflected-Energy Diffuser: A funny-looking outer garment worn
over the suit, consisting of various materials in various geometries
designed to break up return from things like millimeter radar, lasers,
etc. It looks like some sort of geometric christmas tree draped around
the wearer, designed by a mad AI. Basically, game mechanics wise it
allows the wearer to apply cover modifiers to her signature when being,
say, designated by a reflected-energy designator, laser sight, or smart
link (double cover modifiers for lasers). Still, if they're standing up
in the open ...
Cost: 50,000

As an aside, I actually got to help design some of these items
over at Fort Belvoir's Night-Vision Electrooptics lab back in '86. The
goal then was to have a visual-thermal-radar camouflage suit ready
by FY1989.

Well, well, well . . .
I did a little closet cleaning this weekend, and found a few of my old
Scrawls From the
Sprawls APAzines with some old toys I had completely forgotten.

The Skin patch was designed on a warm autumn evening while watching
lightning bugs
frolic. The L.A.S.T. was ONLY designed to frighten players who were considering
abusing the TTG spell in 1st edition!
Since then I have actually used the crap once, on a fleshform insect spirit,
and his
shaman. (An army officer had one of the grenades, and got jumped!)
In case you're interested . . . I left the original posting dates on it all
so you could see just
how dated it has become.
I'd welcome any comments or tweaks you might have! :-)

LUCIFERIN SKIN PATCH

Legality: Legal
Availability: 10-15 days

AD COPY - Using the same chemical process that lets lightning bugs glow, we
can treat
your skin allowing you to emit that same pleasant, heatless (no
thermographic signature)
light.
Wether as a fashion statement, or an ever present light source, a Luciferin
Skin Patch is
sure to be an "enlightening" asset to your bioware accessories!

LYSOSOME ACTIVATION SPRAY TOXIN (L.A.S.T.)
(Chemical)
Legality: 1-M3
Availability: 1-6 months
Street Index: 3-9 (1D6 + 3)

AD COPY - When a cell in the human body has surpassed its maximum growth it can
begin to decay. This decay could spread to other healthy cells if left
unchecked. To
prevent this, the body activates it's "Self destruct system" - the lysosome!
Every cell in the metahuman body is full of these nuclear constructs that
break down
aged cells into their component structures, so the raw materials can be used
again. The
lysosomes are activated by a naturally secreted enzyme which we can now make
available for all your anti-personnel needs!
Also available is the counter agent, which is the only effective means of
preventing
L.A.S.T. from activating the Lysosomes.

NOTES - L.A.S.T Chemical Grenade - 5,000 nuyen each; L.A.S.T. chemical
toxin, for
use with Binder, or Squirt weapons - 3,000 nuyen per dose; Counter Agent -
2,500 nuyen
(Lasts in body for 1-6 days)

Treat each dose of L.A.S.T. as a 6 die turn to goo spell.
