GRANITE, my friend, your just not getting it. The Rule of One's and the Rule
of Sixes only counts for Test. Here's an overview of Test from SRII pages
30-32.

A Success Test is a dice roll to determine how well or poorly a character
performs a task.

Dice are not added together on Test.

A Success is achieved for each die that equals for exceeds the Target Number.

Rule of Ones: Applies to all Test
a) A roll of 1 on a die will not achieve a success
b) If all dice on a Test are 1's then the character suffers a disastrous
mistake.

Rule of Sixes: Applies to all Test
If a die rolls 6, roll it again adding the new roll to the previous.

Also, note that the word "Test" is never mentioned in the Magic Losing rules.

In responce to Jason Carter on the rule of 6's.

You are correct that the magic lose roll is not stated as a test and hence
the rule of 6's shouldn't apply. But I'd be inclined to give a mage a break,
and if he has a magic attribute of 13+ at least give him/her a chance of not
losing the magic point. Although with a magic attribute this high 1) your not
very likly to actualy miss the magic point and 2) Who's going to try and force
you to make the test in the first place, some Sam with a SMG
(bullet barrier 13) watch those sparks.

A'Deus.

Nightstalker you obviously did not READ my previous posts
tooclosely..First off I realize that it is impossible to role a 1 with 2
six sided dice that is why I say take away one of the dice..Second I did
say it was my opinion..Third what about those super Mages with a magic
rating in excess of 12?? so for those guys you would simply rule that
they lost the magic point due to the injury no dice need be thrown since
it is impossible to exceed 12 with 2 dice rolled one time each???? and
Fourth why bother to throw dice if there isn't some number that needs to
be rolled or exceeded?? And since there is a NUMBER that is the TARGET of
this action this then becomes..Yes you guessed it..The Target
Number....And I will restate for those that didn't listen the first time
- IMHO - if a magic user places him/herself into a position where they
have a single magic point it is only fair to game balance that that last
magic point be as at risk as a Samis' last bullet or grenade is at risk
of being expended...
