destroying the Enemy, wherever they might be found? What if the legend
of the battle between St. George and the Dragon, is actually a distorted
retelling of a much OLDER story?...
Initiate Group: Order of St. George
Patron(s) : Unknown
Status : High
Strictures : Fraternity, Link, Oath, Secrecy
Number :No greater than 6 per chantry. most often
two or three. Mundanes may join, but
do not receive the abilities magickally
active members do.
Highest Known Level: 7 [fairly high mortality rate]
Notes : All members may receive a magickal tattoo
with a spell(s) quickened into it, comiserate with their grade, and /or
performance [mostly detection spells, but also Armor, Enhanced
Reactions, Mental Shields, etc.], if they desire to accept it. The
tattoo is of a dragon, usually starting with the head. Those older
members sometimes have full dragon body tattoos, and a handful, have
scenes of something else...
Communication between chantries is sometimes sparse, as many have
become fearful of corruption by the Enemy [this has happened twice in
the Order's recorded history; both Chantries had to be destroyed.]
All members swear to destroy any and all signs of corruption by the
Enemy wherever they find it, whatever the personal cost [unfortunately,
this has lead to the formation of a few hidden, radical cells dedicated
to eradicating anyone they deem corrupted, influenced, or inadverdently
aiding the Enemy]. And the collection of any knowledge, that may aid
them in their struggle.
Sometimes chantries are forced to enlist the aid of shadowrunners
[abeit without their knowledge], due to manpower shortages, etc.], for
it seems the Enemy are slowly infiltrating themselves into all strata of
society.
No known central Chantry location exists [or if it does, only a
Chantry head may have knowledge of it].
As far as plot ideas:
1) A serial killer is loose, killing seemingly random victims. What
if there is a pattern to his killing? Is the killer even aware of what
he is doing? Worse, what if all the signs point to a fellow chantry
member?
2) In a spin off from the first idea, what if the PCs pursue the
killer to an isolated hotel, only to discover they've stumbled unto a
serial killers convention [this idea thanks to Neil Gaiman's Sandman
series].
3) A cult worshipping a Sun totem, are found immolated in the pattern
of a star, in a field or woods. What if the players discover this wasn't
the only such instance of this in the last few years? [this one is based
off an actual news report from a French service, I'll post later].
4) A renoun programmer, and/or computer hardware designer have almost
made a breakthru in interface technology, and have been 'field-testing'
their discovery on unwilling subjects [it could be a Direct Neural
Interface, that would allow the user to literally 'deck' the subject's
subconscious]. Taking it a step further, what if they were using
patients in a mental hospital? Another step, what if one of those
patients escaped? And are the scientists being manipulated into creating
the device, or do they have a darker motive in mind?
Well, that's all I've got for now. Gotta run. The shadows are starting
to get long...
