Well just got back from seeing the Haunting. Pretty cool movie with some
neat effects.

I figured since someone always says "I just saw x movie and this is how it
fits into shadowrun..." I decided I would do the same with this one. :)

Spoiler space that is most likely not needed

Here is some more

Just a little more

ok that's enough

The Runners are asked to assassinate Mr. X (this can be anyone). Mr. X just
inherited a house and he's planning on staying there for a while. Now would
be a great time to go in and take him out since the only security he has is
his body gaurds. The place would obviously not have electronic security
since it's so old.

The runners should make their way in and after a shootout they find out the
place is haunted and they are stuck in there. No amount of gun fire seems
to break the front door down (I wouldn't even allow them into the
courtyard). I'd say the house is haunted either by some ghosts or a free
spirit with a bunch of minions. The ghosts may just let the players waster
all their precious ammunition and then start taunting them. Mages or adepts
of course would be better off in this run.

Then of course getting out of the house could be as simple as killing the
spirit, but first they would have to find the spirit which may be found in
clues littered around the house as to why it was haunted in the first place.

Well there is my 3 cents.

Damn, a shadowrun based off Shirley Jackson's novel The Haunting of Hill
House was one of the first I ever made! Glad to see the movie adaption is
breathing some new life into the story. Hmmm, I wonder if Liam Neeson uses
the Force to combat ghosts......

*cough* If I'm not mistaken, that's a remake of an old '50s movie called
'The Haunting' as well. Old black and white, and I believe it's where the
line "The supernatural is something that's not supposed to happen, but
does happen" comes from. Although, I might be mistaken on that latter
point.

The movie is based off Shirley Jackson's 1959 novel The Haunting of Hill
House. In 1963, a movie was made based on it. This current film (The
Haunting 1999) is no more based off the previous movie adaption than Stephen
King's mini-series of The Shining is based of Kubrick's. Both are based off
Jackson's excellent novel. You don't remake movies than are adapted from
books, you make a new adaption. Take the Richard Matheson novel I Am Legend;
The Omega Man and The Last Man on Earth were based on that novel, but TOM is
not a "remake" of TLMOE.
