The first flyer predated the release of the rulebook. Looking at my
old retailer prerelease sales sheet it says under the advertising
campaign notes that the booklet was released in May 1989. Hmmm, my 20th
birthday, a time before MC23.

Interesting note it also has mention of

->Matrix - Shipping in early 1990
->This boardgame of adventure and combat in the ever changing world of
->cyberspace.

I completely forgot all about that.

Ancient cultures believed that names held great power, personal names
more so and they were guarded very closely. To protect themselves, they
answered to another name, because if another discovered their real name,
it could be used against them.
History repeats itself.
Welcome to the Digital Age.

According to MC23, at 13:48 on 19 Mar 99, the word on
the street was...

That makes sense. Better to advertise before the book is out than only
afterward...

I wonder what kind of game it would have been...

Back in 1992, it was very unlikely. Today it's much more likely. Back then
the US kept about 6 years worth of grain reserves, today it only keeps 1.
(Saves money in the short term. I think we exported the rest.)
Thus all we need is one bad harvest and food shortages can happen.

He wasn't saying that foodriots were unrealistic, but that riots in general
of that scale were unrealistic. 3 days later he was proven wrong. Actually,
I think at the day he said that, the Rodney King riots were already
happening.

Apart from bas harvest, I asked myself how realistic the riot was that
started the Seretech lawsuit: The was a strike of the truckers, but wouldn't
the army supply the people? Or worse, wouldn't the president just impose
martial law or something? Is the saying "Every city is just 24 hours and 2
meals away from barbarism" true?
