Well...
The big talk still seems to be on SRII, so I might as well get my two cents
worth in. I must say that it looks really good. The cover art is the same,
and the Matrix is still on the top, but the borders are now black, and there's
a silver band accross the bottom that says "Second Edition." The inside looks
good too. There's a lot of new art, as well as some of the better old stuff.
The Metahumans, istead of having the spread-eagled DaVinci pictures now has
mug shots, except the Troll, which still takes up a whole page. The order of
all the chapters has been re-arranged, so that gear is after contacts and
critters. They cut out the goofy run in the back and put some new maps in the
back. The new map of North America is superb. It's a two-page gate fold in
color. It's almost as if they hired Rand-McNally to do it for them it looks
that good. Also near the end there's a chapter with all of the minor
conversions for the handbooks. The only one omitted is the Grimoire, because
their printing a new one, and anything from the old books that has to do with
magic. One thing I like a lot is that they give a list of animals from
Paranormal Animals that have different numbers of initiative dice. Things like
the Bandersnatch and the Hell-hound now have 3D for initiative. Can we say
"ouch." There is also a much needed Index at the back of the book.
I know people have already gone over it, but drain still sticks in my
head. Some people have said its something like (force + 2) / 2, but is in fact
always [(force / 2) +- X]. That being the half the force plus or minus a
different number for each spell. There are also a few new spells, my personal
favorite being Flamethrower.
Over all, the whole book is explained in much greater detail, with every
kind of combat set forth in a step-by-step process which will clear a lot of
things up. Sorry for being so long winded, I suppose I could have gone on much
longer, but this was just what was at the top of my head. I don't have my book
with me.

The Mongoose
"I hunt, therefore I am."
