OK, so you do not want to pay the essence cost or use the body index
just for three dice.
1) Sorry for the insult, but that sounds like the position of a
power-gamer. (kind-of like me.)

2) I am in complete agreement with the majority of the list. The
idea of a new pool based on an archetype is ludicrous (sp). That is
just asking for later abuse.

If you consider, nearly every skill can be likened into a pool of
its own. For an example, I can (or could, I don't have me book w' me)
withhold dice from my sorcery test to give me more dice for the second
spell that I'm casting.
Firearms works in a similar manner (consider firing at multiple
targets without walking the fire). With a theiving pool to add to the
base skill (prob'ly > 4) you'll get from 8 to 13 dice for the skill test
without cyberware.
To quote Dennis Leary: "I DON'T THINK SO!!!!"

In conclusion, try it without. If you don't get enough dice to do
what you think that you should be able to do, start saving that Karma,
boy.
