Ok, now most of you people out there when you're loading up your
firearms think along the lines of "Hmm, cool, if I use burst fire and explosive
tipped bullets, then I can destroy most people with one hit. Cool." Then the GM
gleefully goes on to give a lesson on the flammability of phosphorus. Heehee.
The fact is that having an enemy knocked out is much more useful than
having them dead. For example, I play a doctor character in my group (hell,
variety is essential) and the really nice thing is that he has a wonderful
device called an "event programmer" (See Shadowbeat) Weeelll, on a recent
contract at an unnamed mansion, there was a sabotage attempt. Fortunately, I
had my GEL ROUNDS loaded in my shotgun, and I was ready to rock. BAM wid da
Remington 950 (love that Remington!).
End result; I manage to pump his brain to see who put him up to it, and
then had fun in convincing him that he was a chicken afterwards. Ahh. NONE OF
THIS WOULD BE POSSIBLE IF HE WAS DEAD. This is why I love gel rounds.
#2. They are great for subduing overeager colleagues. Hunting a wild boar
that regenerates, Mr. Decker decides to whip out the Uzi and the semi-ballistic
armor. Duh. Whereas Dr. Doctor decides to climb a tree and wait with a loaded
GEL ROUND shotgun. Heh. Well, Mr. Decker managed to get the boar on the ground
and regenerating, but Mr. Doctor managed to whack a round of Gel into his neck
and knock him out, closely followed by chopping off Mr. Boar's gristly head.
Mmmmm.....crackling.
#3. My character is generally allowed to carry the 950 around most places
due to a reputation for using only gel rounds. This is a win-win situation
because if someone takes a shot at me, I can probably down them quickly, and
club owners can expect to get a good answer from any troublemakers as a
result. Tada. Great deterrent.
CONCLUSION: Gel rounds Gooood.
