Meine Kamaraden:

Yes, here it is...a long, LONG last. I apologize for the delay, which
was partially due to the Dark Lord's vacation and my own pressing academic
concerns. However, for better or for worse, here are the answers from the
latest audience with Herr Dowd:

There is a text due out next year with the tentative title of "The Shaman Book"
with unspecified content, which means that Herr Dowd is still awaiting
the author's manuscript.

Was not able to verify this at the moment I called; however, he took note of
this possible error.

Spell Defense applies to Damage Resistance tests against Damaging Manipulations
in the same fashion is applies to Combat Spells. Remember: there is still an
astral element to the spell which may be inhibited to decrease its
effectiveness.

The Dark Lord read the clause in question, and he was struck by its
incomprehensibility as well. He speculated it was an error that developed from
editing and splicing two versions of the sentences together accidentally.

The supposes that it was intended to say the following (in essence): Armor
Rating is reduced by 1/2 and then applied to the APDS value...although the APDS
is reduced by one Level. Thus, hardened armor is only half as effective (power
wise) against APDS, although the potency (power level) is still reduced.

this weapon.

It must be centered on *something* tangible, as there must be an aura through
which the astral energies may be channeled. Air molecules are insufficient in
this regard.

It's a typo.

Metamagic and the Ritual of Summoning Allies are two separate fields of study.
Hence, one may be uninitiated and summon an Ally.

One may use a skill possessed previous to Initiation.

They may be obedient, but a spell attempts to alter (even ever so slightly)
their aura, their essence. By there very nature they shall not be willing.

There are Perception rules, and the various effects that modifications have
upon target numbers, in ShadowRun II.

Astral contact only applies to Groups, and hence the reduced Karma cost of
Initiation.

Otherwise, one would also be able to cast spells through Clairvoyance.

You *cannot* enchant something to get more reach than it originally possesses!

They are limited to the enchanting of foci for which their Totem bestows
benefits.

Probably not...although one generally can acquire an analogue looking at the

Yes. "it's a mystical ability" (Note the illustration in Paranormals of
Europe). Although this applies to SIMPLE CLOTHING. Not Armor, not weapons.

Yes. Virtual Realities has not been abandoned.

Essence is the Force. The Force is added to Quickness, and 1/2 to Reaction.

That is correct.

Only verses penalties.

Combat Pool is only applicable to full defense situations, and the target
number is the power. There shall be rules regarding "pulling your punches" in
the aforementioned "Fields of Fire."

NO!

> 1) Why are sasquatches not possible race to play in the current shadowrun
> universe? They are considered sentient beings. They aren't powerful.

"Actually, I've seen them played, and quite well at that."

They aren't included basically because there simply aren't that many
Sasquatchi. Were they a "sanctioned" player race, then there would be
a veritable deluge of them popping up all over the place.

> or willpower.
> Why did who ever complied the GrimoireII did this?

"Well, we stand by this idea."

Paraphrase:

It should be important to note that Elemental Effects differ in how they are
brought about in the two spell categories.

Damaging Manipulations create a physical manifestation of whatever Elemental
power with which they are equipped. This accounts for their relative ease with
which they may be cast (the general target number being 4); although this is
offset by the ability to utilize Combat Pool in the damage resistance.

A Combat Spell behaves quite differently. It seeks to channel energy directly
into the target's aura, which means target numbers of Body or Willpower,
contingent upon the spell's nature. Armor won't prevent this from happening.
It follows that if one applies even more energy, as is reflected in the
elevated Drain Code, then one may gain the same "effect."

In either situation, the Mage would still be a mage, that although the
inclusion of bioware or cyberware would reduce their magic by their remaining
"natural" Magic Point, their Initiation would keep them going, so to speak.

> 4) With a mage with 3 points of cyberware and a approiate magic rating of 3
> loss any more magic if he/she get any bioware that costed less than 3 points

Yes. If the have only 3 points left, and get anything over 2 points of
bioware, their Magic ability "goes South."

> 5) In back of the Shaowrun 2ED Source book it tells how to up date past

Yes. Whereas before each additional armor point reduced the top speed by
15 klicks, it now only reduces it by 5.

Und das ist alles. I am aware there were perhaps one or two questions
forwarded to me which I ran across after the Q&A session (I did not have the
most recent hard copy on my desk when I made the call) which shall be answered
later. My apologies.
