It is if your a munchkin who skims the rules :-)

Which brings up another topic.

Its been brought up on the list that the term "munchkin" is to broad
and can be misinterpreted. I agree. So, what are the different types of
munchkins? Here's my list (and please take note that this is also for
entertainment value and not to be taken to seriously).

Rules Munchkin (not to be confused with the Rules Lawyer) - This
munchkin reads every word of the rules and works diligently to exploit
the very best combination of skills, attributes and equipment for his
character.

Corporate Lawyer Munchkin - This munchkin reads every word of the rules
and works diligently to exploit every loophole he can find for his
character.

Wanna-be Munchkin - This munchkin wants to play the perfect character,
but isn't quite bright enough to do it. His characters often die
suspiciously when he realizes that they aren't what he wants (standing
in open terrain, wearing an armored jacket, pulls out his Ares
Predator, and fires at the GMC Banshee).

Whining Munchkin - This munchkin is never satisfied. His needs are a
black hole that can never be filled. And he will complain when things
don't go the way he wants them to (which is almost always).

Combat Munchkin - This munchkin's sole goal is to make the character
that cannot be defeated in combat.

Everything Munchkin - This munchkin is not happy unless his character
can do everything. And do it well.

The "I must have missed that rule" Munchkin - This munchkin will create
characters using most of the rules. Those little rules that are
restricting will often be ignored. When caught he will say "Oops" and
correct his character.

The Argumentative Munchkin - This munchkin will argue the validity of
any rule that has a negative effect on his character and will try to
convince the GM to change the rule so that it is beneficial to him.

Note: The term munchkin is not always negative. I, for example, am a
Rules Munchkin. But I also make an effort at developing my characters'
personalities and work hard at roleplaying. And oddly enough, since I
GM ShadowRun and do not play the game, my knowledge of the rules is not
equal to that of other games that I play. Go figure :)

It is when a munchkin uses only the numbers and dice to represent his
character that things start to go downhill. Or when the munchkin's
intent is wholy selfish.

That's my list. What types of munchkins have you encountered?

I'd like to propose the Lazy Munchkin as a variant of the Wannabe Munchkin.
I prefer to think that my lack of success is due to laziness rather than
being a dim bulb... Terry

I met a Dice Munchkin. This was a guy who believed wholehartedly in
the dice. According to their world, the dice dictate if what they
wanted to do succeeds rather than common sense. Also, games are
better if they allow people to roll a lot of dice. Thus Ars Magica is
bad (only percentile dice), Shadow Run is better, and Champions is
the best.

I, personally, consider myself many munchkins. I try very hard to not
min/max a character to the hilt while trying to convey every thought I have
on the character into his numbers. Eventually I finish, look at the
character, and realize I munched in at least some areas. This I would call
a subconscious munchkin.

When I actually do try to bring out the munchkin in me, I live for dice.
More dice at lower target numbers is all that matters for offense and the
best defense is going before the other guy gets to go. If the latter fails,
then have hoards of combat pool dice and decent armor. It's often much
easier to dodge an attack than to stage it all the way down (trolls
excluded). This is what I call formula munchkining.

*stops before he unwittingly divulges more of his secrets*

This is the most dangerous of all... the quiet munchkin ;)
