Okay, I think I have seen some stats for this stuff somewhere, but can't
seem to recall where that might have been. ;) Thus, I would like your
input on the following items:

Throwing Spikes:

Look sorta like alan wrenches or miniaturized railroad tacks. If you have
ever seen Johnny Mnemonic, you might recall the female street sam used
these. I would make these have the same stats as throwing knives, but I
would up the Concealability to 14 and lower the weight to .1.

Spring-loaded Throwing Spike Projector:

This is a wrist mounted, spring-loaded weapon which can hold up to 3
throwing spikes. With the press of the right button, 1, 2, or 3 of the
spikes can be fired at once. If firing one spike, the damage code is
(STR+2)L. If firing two spikes, it becomes (STR+4)L. When firing the
maximum capacity of three spikes at once, the damage code is (STR+5)M. The
cost of the projector is 250 NY and it has an availability of 6/12 hrs.
The street index of this weapon is 1. It's concealability is 8. The
throwing spikes used in the launcher are slightly different from those that
are hand thrown. They cost the same as the hand thrown ones, but cannot be
interchanged. (i.e. you can't hand throw the ones meant for the projector,
nor can you load the projector with the hand thrown ones.) The spikes used
in the projector have the same stats as the hand thrown spikes (above).

All throwing spikes, whether hand thrown or fired from the projector have
the same ranges as throwing knives.

Comments, suggestions, etc?

Justin :)

First the Gnome-Flinger (DragonLance) and now the Spring-loaded
Throwing Spike Projector. What is Spike supposed to do after he lands?
I assume if he misses his target he'll come back and beat up the
operator. B>]#

Reduce the damage to compensate. Thesr things don't hurt much: a
puncture wound won't bleed much or cut much muscle compared to a blade.

Of course, if you poisoned them...

Yup, know throwing spikes. I'd up the power by +1 over throwing knives;
throwing spikes have a tendency to be denser/heavier, have at least 3 edges,
and be significantly more aerodynamic.

Out of curiosity, WHY are you using Strength for a non-Strength powerd
weapon? I'd recommend using a 4L base damage(human-average Strength 3, +1
power for weight and the like as above) for humans, elves, and dwarves, 5L
for Ork-sized launcher, and 6L for troll-sized. If only because they're
bigger and can pack more spring into them.

Why? I can understand hand-thrown spikes not fitting in the launcher, but
there's no reason that, if the launcher's busted, you can't take out the
spikes and throw them. Unless they've got a really funky shape.

Sounds good.

Or put barbed or hooked points on them. The thing is though, that they are
denser for their size, and are much more likely to hit properly than a
throwing knife.
