I've always been a little annoyed that there isn't a comprehensive timeline for
Shadowrun. The game has been in existance for ten years and a lot has happened in that
time. I believe that one of the web sites ( possibly the Archive) used to have an online
timeline but it was never truely up to date or comprhensive.

This brings me to the subject of this post. Lately I've been toying around with
puting a timeline together. My new campaign is going to start with the Year of the Comet.
I'd like to mix in one or two of the printed campaigns with my own. I'd also like my
players to "hear" about the turmoil in the world even if their not directly
involved. My plan has become to create a modern timeline and give "news
reports" to my players as things happen in the world.

As I've been contemplating this project I've decided that if I'm going to take the
time and effort to compile this list of events I'd like to make it available to the
Shadowrun community at large. There are complications though. The first is the form I'd
like this to take. I'd like to enter this as a searchable document that would be easy to
read. I'd like to also make it a downloadable document so that I'd be able to use it
offline. Lastly I need to make sure that I'm not going to cause any legal woes by
compiling printed and copyrighted info and distributing it. The long term ideas on this
projest is to eventually add all the events I can from pre-2061.

I'm hoping that you guys can give me some ideas on the format the timeline should
take. I'm also hoping that Adam or Gurth can give me some pointers on who to talk to
about my legal questions.

Help me out chummers.

I have a large word document with the timeline that I have in it. It is over 50 pages.
The parts from my campaign are obvious and easy to remove.

The timeline explorer is available at http://timeline.dumpshock.com -
it's quite comprehensive, and up to date with all books previous to
Shadows of Europe, I believe.

If you're using WizKids text [that is, anything in any FASA or FanPro
book] you'll need to get in touch with the WKG legal department.

Wonderful! It wasn't nearly this updated the last time I looked (or I
looked in the wrong place). Kudos to whoever spent the time to input it
all!

Do you have this in a format that would be easy to share with the
online community? On a webpage, for instance. If not, could you
perhaps convert it to a .txt file and mail it to me? I would be very
much interested in seeing you take on the timeline. :)

Thanks Adam. I remember this timeline from several years ago but I
couldn't remember where the site actually was. A special thanks to the
people who worked on updating it and making it a little more complete.

15 years, give or take a few days (AFAIK it was launched at GenCon 1989,
which tended to be in early August, I think).

I just thought of a possibility for a future update in the timeline.
Search by coporation. I don't know how the backend is organized, so it
might be a royal pain, but coporations are more relevant than countries
in some ways.
