Silly Fro. It's 'ch' when the 't' is next to an 'i' or an 'e'. The rest
of the time it is a regular 't', someitmes a 'd'...

I think it's a bit off... When I took Gaelic, I asked my instructors,
and this is what they told me. (And I'm not saying you are wrong, we
could be hitting dialectal variance here...)
*Tir Tairngire
Tir = cheeyr (roll the r at the end just a bit, sound a lot like the
english 'to cheer someone on')
Tairngire = tayrngeer (first r rolled very slightly, g as gear, second r
abit more, and a breathy vowel, (schwa if anyone recognises it) at the
very end.)
*Tir 'na N'og
Tir = cheeyr
'na = nah (as in nah, I'm not doing that.)
N'og = nock (nock the arrow, knock on the door)
*Bean Sidhe (Using the spelling in the PAoE spelling)
bean = ban (like to ban someone, but the n is a bit more nasal)
sidhe = shee-uh (like she, uh is going away)
Any others? <grin>
