Does anyone know the rules for the use of kits/shops/facilities, are there
general guidelines what you may need each stage of equipment for? Also, I
seem to recall reading about bonuses for having a better grade of equipment
to do a task than you needed, which I can't find...

umm....not sure about on the car stuff but Matrix lists it for the
computer stuff

umm....not sure about on the car stuff but Matrix lists it for the

There are rules in the cyberterminal construction section of Matrix at the
very least, jobs which require a toolkit are done at -1TN in a shop and -3TN
in a facility. I believe that there are similar notations in Rigger 3 and
they're also in the firearm design and customisation section of the Cannon
Companion. (so on reflection I'd expect them to be in the vehicle design
section of Rigger 3).
All that said however I think there is something in the base SR3 rulebook.
I'll have to check that one!

For vehicles and firearms, each modification (see Rigger 3 and Cannon Companion) lists the

necessary tools, and though I don't necessarily agree with some of the choices made, it's
at least a good guide; I think, but don't feel like looking it up, that Matrix does the
same for cyberdeck modifications. For other stuff, though, you'll have to pretty much make

it up as you go along.

There are some rules for this in Matrix, IIRC (I still don't feel like looking it up :)
and
you could adapt those to other areas of work.
