Just thought maybe you'd all like to know that in the top 50 RPGs
according to readers of the British RPG magazine Arcane, Shadowrun took
8th place, making it the highest cyberpunk-type game in the list (CP2020:
10th, Cyberspace: 44th). The top ten:

1 Call of Cthulhu
2 Advanced Dungeons & Dragons
3 Traveller
4 Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay
5 RuneQuest
6 Vampire: The Masquerade
7 Paranoia
8 Shadowrun
9 The Star Wars Roleplaying Game
10 Cyberpunk

Other FASA entries were MechWarrior at #49 and Earthdawn at #24.

All this from issue 14 of Arcane, which -- amazingly -- I found in a local
bookstore, hidden among computer gaming magazines. Perhaps not all is
lost...

Warhammer is a great game! If you want to have fun instead of toil in
rules-hell (also known as AD&D), play Warhammer. It's fast, fun, magic
is not so overbearing, and the background is quite rich.

RuneQuest, OTOH, is... well... blech!

Anyway, back to Shadowrun.

It says "Christmas 96" on the cover of the magazine...

I always thought the Warhammer was like AD&D except that it didn't
pretend not to be a wargame.

I play 40k and necromunda. I've been thinking abount meshing necro
and SR into a coherent RPG/minis game. I have DMZ, but it leaves a
little to be desired (except for the maps.)

I'd like to see 40K in a full blown RPG, the background is absolutely
fantastic. I thought about trying to work out some system myself, but..

Not much chance of that, what with Games Workshop (*spit*) being so crap,
expensive and RPG enemies.....
