It is my understanding that the totem chooses you, not the other way
around. It would seem to me that a shaman who gets a heavy dose of
radioactivity does not "turn" toxic. I think a person is born that
way.

It's more of a state of mind, people aren't born toxic, but they can(and
do) change and become toxic. I don't think there are any specifically toxic
totems(insect shamans are different, I don't think they are toxic
specifically). Shamans who undergo this mental change start summoning
toxic spirits, but retain their previous identity. Like a toxic bear shaman.

Didn't that wendigo in one of the novels have "Blight" as a totem? And he
was a toxic shaman.

Umm, Find your own truth? Number 2 I believe? Don't remember. I'll look
later. But I generally don't take all the novels(and some of the
suppliments) as chiptruth. But "Blight" might be a different name for one
of the more traditional totems. But I am probably out in left field here.
But if you look in the Grimoire II(gee, I've looked stuff up in this
thing just replying to mail as I did earlier tonight playing), on page
100, there is the description I was hunting for earlier. But I'm sure
that their COULD be some toxic only totems.
