I'm having something like this in mind for a campaign using the
advantage the net can give:
A (large? 20-30) number of players running pirate groups. Different
ones. (3-6 players per group.). They are competitors.
The GM runs the 'world' - corporations, governments and a few
'NPC' pirate groups, and announces to appropriate contacts, which
again tells the players, what targets is moving around. And then each
may go for targets of their choice. If it's a 'big profile' target
they are almost certain to run into other groups... which might lead
to interesting situations.
I doubt I would have the time for this one, though, but it'd be fun.

To keep things equal among those with lots of books and those with
few or none, it should probably only use items & spells from the BBB,
although cyberpirates and R2 would also have to be included.
(Or poll the players for what books they have, or whatever).
In other words, this is *NOT* a PBEM request for players. It's an
idea for a campaign, and I'm curious what people think of it and what
refinements that could be offered, if it should be limited to a
certain area (Caribbean, Mediterranean, Ivory Coast, Philliphines) or
a few, or totally unlimited. Also, what vehicles people should start
with. (Rubber dingy,a helicopter, battleships... or just leave that
to tech? The latter is probably better; they don't need more than a
heli or other boat or plane to be pirates. Would probably allow each
group to pool their resources to buy a bigger vessel of sorts.
