Hypothetical situation: Security system includes two 10' high cocentric
fences 6' apart ... a physical adept with traceless walk climbs the fence
outer fence. Said physad doesn't see the monowire strung between the two
fences in a net formation and jumps down ...

Does the traceless walk allow the physad to land on the monowire safely?
(I'd guess that you'd wind up with ex-physad chunks ...)

I would say he was worm food. But I can see it being argued yes if the
wire was very low to the ground and the net's mesh having small holes, being
that Traceless walk allows crossing deep snow without leaving a trace.

I'd say you'd end up with a physad who reaches the ground, several
times, in several different locations, wondering what that sudden pain was
for a split second.....
You'd also end up with great input for hellhound chow....

Hell no. He'd have to make a successful stealth check to land silently,
then another to avoid screaming like a maniac as he got cut to ribbons.
Then he'd die.

IMO, no. I feel that Traceless Walk requires a "surface" to walk on.
Monowire is not a surface. In my game the Adept would have to make a
damage resistance test.

Also, I feel that for Traceless Walk to work the Adept has to at least
have an idea of what he surface he's walking on is. The Adept jumping
over the fence would be caught completely off guard by the monowire.

Yeah - chunky time. If he noticed the monowire and lowered himself
slowly onto it, he should be able to walk across it - he wouldn't
actually be touching it, so it wouldn't cut him. I'm of the opinion
that TW is an active power, though, so it's salsa time.

ewww...I hate questions like this. I don't think the TW would save the person
in question because s/he did not actually see the "surface" that they were
walking upon or were about to be put upon. IMO, the "LOS" thing does have
certain applications in *some* Adept abilities.

Why bother with the middle man? Just put the mono about half-way up,
let the pieces fall through, and the hell hounds run underneath to clean
up the pieces. Nice visual, I know. Is Grimtooth still accepting
ideas??

Only problem is if the hell hounds see something attop the fence and
decide to jump ...
