Does Seattle have a train system? I know about the mono-rail, but what
about subways and other trains? If it exists, what areas does it cover?

Thanks,

NightRain.

I know tehre is no Subway. The mono-rail probably replaces train
mass-transit if there is one today.

Seattle Sourcebook would have more info for you...:]

I don;t have mine here, otherwise I could tell you more...

There's a train service between Seattle and San Francisco (going through
Tir Tairngire in an opaque tube), but apart from that I believe there are
only buses for public transport inside the city (and taxis, of course).
The monorail only covers downtown, BTW.

The info about this is in the Seattle section of SRII and in the Seattle
Sourcebook.

Yeah, I got that from mine, but I thought it was weird that there was no
trains mentioned. I thought every city in the world had trains, so I had
to make sure.

Thanks,

NightRain.

Thanks Bull, but I already have it. I was just wondering because I could
find no mention of trains in it.

I gather most American cities have no trains at all, or if they do, it's
something like a subway/underground/metro/etc. or a monorail-like thingie
that's really very limited in the area it covers. Oh yeah, and Seattle of
course has the bus tunnels underneath downtown (they even exist today,
AFAIK).

I guess I must of been thinking of the subway in New York or something. I
just assumed they all have trains. OH well.

Denver currently has one light rail line going through downtown. On
the next ballot (November 4th) we're going to vote on whether or not
to raise the sales tax to add more lines (to the suburbs and Denver
International Airport). It looks like it won't pass this time. And
considering SR history it probably won't ever pass in the Game
history.

Just some info for anyone running an adventure/campaign in Denver :)

So far as I know very few US cities have subways or light rails (NYC,
Washington DC, Chicago).

We make up for the lack of trains/light rail/subways with more
automobiles and extreemly poor bus service. In the United States
there are now towns in the hinderlands that can only be reached by
personally owned car, bicycle or walking. Thats right no form of
public transport. Further considering the overall age of the
infrastructure (the bridges are falling down with age) and an
anti-tax climate this is not going to get better any time soon. In
parts of the United States being a foot is amajor limitation (free
idea for evil GMs)

To add to the list of US cities with light rail/subways/rail

Portland
Metro system (light rail)
Cascadia (full gage trains, runs from Eugene to Seattle)

SF Bay Area
San Fransico
SF Muni (street cars & subway)
BART (medium rail/subway)
CALTRANS (full gage trains)
East Bay
BART (medium rail)
San Jose
CALTRANS (full gage trains)
Light Rail (trolleys and light rail)

Los Angeles
subway/Light rail

Philidelphia
Full gage commuter trains

This list is far far from complete, There are others, mainly in big
cities.

Boston
MBTA or The "T" (Full Train's, Trollies, Busses, and Boats
covering most of the Metro Boston area and subburbs) In fact , to be quite
biased, there isn't many places you CAN'T go in Eastern MA on public
Transportation. Gotta love the Hub!

Here in north-east New Jersey, the light rail system, run by New Jersey
Transit, is pretty good, since it brings hordes of commuters into and out of
New York City. I don't use it very often anymore, but those I know who do
swear by it. To my understanding it runs about 60 to 80 miles south, west,
and north of The City.
