One of the characters in my regular campaign has a spell that allows the
magician to shapeshift into his totem (non-paranormal) animal, taking
all his clothes with him. The TN is, rather than Willpower, the highest
object resistance of the person, and the person can only "transform" a
limited amount of gear. A person dressed all in natural leather,
carrying a staff, would have a TN of something like four. Jett's
smartlinked crossbow and Ares Preds make her TN to shift a *10*. The
drain isn't too bad, either, however it's both a personal spell and
limited effect (only one critter!). I rather like this spell, despite
the ugly TN. No one EVER expects the big black jaguar kitty to turn into
a fully armed street sam...

You know, I just re-read that and realixed that the Shifter was a him. So,
unless Jett has recently had sugery, I misunderstood when I read the part
about Jett shifting.

But don't get any ideas! ;]

Mgkelly (the "Lovebunny". No. Wait. I meant Gunbunny. Really. Swear. I better
shut up
now).

Nope. Jett isn't a shifter. She does use the Shapeshift spell from time
to time, but that's about it. She also knows the spell described above,
but again seldom uses it. Jett IS a fairly high-powered character, but
in Tim's campaign she's actually one of the WEAKER characters. Still,
I'm watching the numbers as carefully as I can just to be sure.

Now now... You've been playing for how long, girl... hmm... close to 8
months now, right? I've been there a little bit longer than you, and I left
this campaign about a month ago... so we're kinda even. Anyways... 8
months, at roughly 2 games a week. That's a whole bucketload of karma. By
my count, Haze had accumulated close to 200 KPs with Tim. I spent maybe 40
of those points, thinking Haze was powerful enough as it is, so there was no
need to boost him further. You've been playing longer, Jett, so I guess
your character has about...what... 210-250 karma? You just blew right past
me :), and Faedra shouldn't be real far behind, IMHO.

All you need now is cyber...

Nope, Jett's finished as far as cyber is concerned...she's got way too
much as it stands. Not as much as Haze had, but more than enough. And
Fae doesn't need cyber, she's a magician!
But you are right about the karma numbers. Jett is currently
at...hmm...218 karma, I believe, and I'm nowhere near retiring her. Fae,
who's been played less that Jett until recently, is just over a hundred
and catching up fast. Most of Fae's karma I still use to boost her.
Jett's karma went toward an ally spirit and some "Useless" skills that I
felt she should have: violin, horseback riding, woodcarving, etc. It
helps round out the character and keeps the attributes and combat skills
in check. :)
Also take into consideration that Jett does get certain perks and
powers from being undead as well. But I won't go into that.
One thing I WILL say, in all fairness, is that anything TIm gives us,
bonus-wise, we have to RP a LOT for. I mean, look at what Jett went
through in Grond's lair and in the aftermath that led to her magic
Awakening...and that's just one of the many nasty situations, including
just about every kind of mental illness we can think of, I've had to get
through with the Jettster. Tim seems VERY keen on exploiting Jett's
quite unbalanced mental state...

I've been told it's because I'm a very good role-player. However, I'm
more inclined to believe that it's because I kiss up to the GM. :>

And one who's very generous with Karma, it appears to me... If
you have 200+ Karma after some 8 months of playing a
character, that GM hands out a lot more Karma that I do -- my
longest-played characters only got up to about 150 after 2 1/2
years or so, and that included Harlequin's Back...

On IRC, we tend to play a lot more often than IRL. Tim's games have run
anywhere from two to four times a week. Average, 2-4 karma a session.
