In the SR2 main book, trolls are stated as having dermal plating (1)
naturally. Is this bonus to body addedd into the +5 racial modifier
already, or is it just like the cyberware. Some GMs I've talked to take
the dermal plating to be already in the racial modifier, and if a troll
wants to get dermal plating cyberware, dermal (2) would only give a +1
cybered modifier because the troll is already considered to have dermal
(1). Don't flame me if it's obvious.

The way I see it is that the +1 to body that you get from the dermal
armor would help in resisting ballistic and impact damage. Also from
physical spells etc.. But from things like gasses that are inhaled I
wouldn't give the extra point to the damage resistance test.
