Being my system went down to change onto internet
and they let our sub expire, I have yet to find
out what happened to the tee shirt thing.
Did it die? Did it fizzle? Is it being sold?
Can I get one? (hunting my sys with a virtual bow)

The t-shirt project seems to have fizzled. If not, _please_ let
me know, and I'll work on the next design idea!

Is it just me or does everyone get this problem. Here's a little log of
something I just tried.

crag5 [sun4] 15% unzip shirt.zip
Unknown compression method. Bad
Invalid Zipfile Header

The file was ftp'ed in binary mode.

I have no problems with it with the version of unzip we've got
here on CAIS. So, here's an idea -- if you want an unizpped version to be
UUENCODEd and sent to you via EMail, contact me privately. Please try to
get the FTP'able ZIP first, 'cause I get too much mail as it is -- but, if
you've got problems with the ZIP file, I'll help you out.

If my memory serves me right the files are compressed with gzip
(.gz extension) inspite of the .zip extension which is characteristic
for the zip-pkzip programm. Just rename the file and use gunzip.

Hope this helps

Sorry, Darth -- you're wrong. (I mean, after all, its my FTP site
and I should know what kind of files are in it!) gunzip just sat there
for a while, then gave me some strange error.
How 'bout this. At my own personal expense (yes, I pay for the
amount of space I use here on CAIS) I will provide copies of the files
totally raw (no zip, no gzip, no compress) in the 'shirt.uncom' directory
of my FTP site.
This way, if you can't handle the zipped _or_ unzipped versions of
the files, we'll know its your own damned fault.

To reiterate: the t-shirts are being sold by our Fearless Leader,
Robert A. Hayden, and the designs can be gotten via FTP from the site
'cais.com'. The ZIP file containing all pertinent graphics and
information is '/usr/jdfalk/shirt.zip', and the unzipped files are in the
directory '/usr/jdfalk/shirt.uncom'. Be sure to set binary before
transferring files.

Actually, the ZIP doesn't save much space, as GIFs don't compress. I'd
unzip them all, remove the zip, and put in a T-shirt.README that tells
everyone which files to get.

Ok after carefull consideration :) I came to the conclusion that
the (newer)zip format used here can be understood by gunzip (it worked
for me). I hope this helps you if not ask your local UNIX
guru or read the compression FAQ. You can FTP that from
rtfm.mit.edu or ftp.germany.eu.net. If you dont know
what ftp is seek professional help. But stop flooding the list

Thanx

>Excuse me for being a newbie, but what is going on with this T-Shirt deal?

This is the fast-becoming-annual T-shirt that this mailing list is bringing
out. The first was in the making about this time last year, and now we're
doing the second...

The shirt will have the names of everybody who has ordered a shirt on it (as
long as they pay :) So far, about 60 people have said they want one, but
because the prices haven't been fixed nobody jas paid yet. However, FL, who
will print the shirts, has been asking around and for the moment count on
paying US$19 in the USA, and around US$25 outside of it, per shirt.
If anyone wants to buy the shirt, email me PERSONALLY with you name, email
address, and the name you want to see printed on the shirt. Then, once the
prices have been set (you'll be notified of this via the list), you must pay
Rob Hayden and some time after you've done that you'll receive a t-shirt
with the names of both you and everybody else who paid on it.

The preliminary designs are on my home page:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~gurth/shirts.html, and on J.D. Falk's homepage & ftp
site (don't know the URL), though note that the design of the back has been
slightly modified between the time I drew those pictures and now.

As soon as I get the prices. The T-shirt shop never got back to me last

No, not yet. At the moment the design consists of two CorelDRAW 5.0 files
(.cdr extension), and I don't think many browsers support that format :)
What I'll do is save it as a .gif or .jpg, probably scale it down a bit, and
put it on my home page so everybody can get an idea of what it looks like at
the moment...

By the time you read this message, the current pictures should be up on my
page, but since FL wants to print the shirt in two colors (plus the
background color of the shirt), I had another idea which will allow us to
stick 50 or 60 names on the shirt, namely by putting "1995" _very_ large on
the shirt, behind the names, in a different color than the names.

I was very amused to see that the movie characters were using "frag" and
"drek" in their slang. >8-> Other than that, the movie was crap... The
plot was inane, and the shoot-em-up scenes were too stupid to be believable.

Two goofiest features, from a Shadowrun perspective:

1.) Pistol-sized guns with voice commands that hold magazines of at least
a half-dozen different types of ammo;

2.) A totally cybered character with an "Off" switch. >8->

That was our second annual T-Shirt, made avaliable to the readers
of ShadowRN, NERPS, ShadowTK, and Plot-D. The artwork was done by Gurth
<gurth@******.nl>, and the orders were taken care of by our fearless
leader, Robert A. Hayden <hayden@*******.mankato.msus.edu>.
We'll probably do another one in eight to ten months.

I was just taking a look at the latest T-shirt designs printed, and on
the page Michael said:

"I personally think that the front of the shirt should have only a
pocket-sized logo of sorts (I'd be willing to cook one up in Photoshop,
with the authorization.) Something like 'ShadowRN: Shadowrun Discussion
List' and maybe 'shadowrn@********.itribe.net' under that.

Then, on the back, the large text (Francis font, of course): 'A Public
Service Announcement from ShadowRN' or something of that
nature... then the pictures."

Thing is, it's traditional to have all the artwork on the front, because
the back is needed for the list of names of listmembers who've ordered
the shirt.

(On my 96 T-Shirt [the only one I have, since my 97 one hasn't showed up
yet :( ] the list of names is two columns wide and *still* takes up the
whole shirt back.

I wouldn't want this way of doing things to be changed...

That's the way I would like to see it too...

Well, the '97 shirt was half-assed. No logo on the front (picture
only), and nothing whatsoever on the back.

We can do much better than that. I love my '96 shirt. ('Cept I shrunk
it. 'DOH!)

Hey, as a newbie, I'm not gonna mess with tradition. Check out the new
update. I'm very open to suggestions and all of you vets can boss me
around. I'm just trying to supply the art.

I'll take that into consideration... wow. This list has a buncha people
on it.

And I wouldn't want to be the one to even attempt to change it.

Anyway, check out the page
(http://www.mindspring.com/~spaced/srshirt/index.html) and please,
please email me with suggestions, critisism, and direct orders.

I'd also like to know what you all think of the art.

Look real close at the '97 t-shirt, and tell me the copyright date under
the image doesn't say "98" ;)

Yep.

That's also because the email addresses are on the shirt there, taking up
too much space. If only the names are there (like on the '94 and '95
shirts), there's room for more stuff. For example, the '95 shirt had an SR
logo and the various list admins at the top, then two columns of names
with "1995" in between, and some more stuff (like a copyright warning
which FASA wanted us to put in the shirt) at the bottom.

I seem to remember much discussion about the T-shirt. Has anything more
happend with it? What happened to our 'weekly updates' on progress?
