The problem is that the orders don't really come in all at once and quite a
lot of you already payed for their shirts before the actual amount of orders
was fixed.
Considering the bank fees and extra costs for money transfer I didn't really
felt the need to bother everyone just for a few shirts extra which would
have costed more on money transfer and bank fees than their actual cost.

By the way I gave 2 of the shirts to my brother who is also a fanatic SR
player. He considered it a great gift and was very pleased, that is also a
reason why the extra cost of the shirts didn't quite bother me.

Well after the gift to my brother I had only 3 left (all XL sizes), but I am
afraid I worn them quite a bit now (at least I always wear one when I
GMing). So after all it wasn't such a waste, but he only comment I was
trying to express is that I don't want to get stuck with an extra couple of
shirts every year :)

I think I have to agree with K in another mail regarding this subject and
wait for the final art to be straithened out first. But thanks anyway for
your swift response.

Good idea, because them bank fees really add up with small amount of money
transfer.

Another possibility, which worked quite well last year, is to send the cash
money in an enveloppe (of course it isn't the safest way, but it is the
fastest and cheapest). Is the pooling something that you are willing to
arrange for Germany?

And finally, Sven De Herdt expressed himself by writing:

As long as the art isn't totally fragged up for my taste,
it was meant as a definite order :)

Sure, people interested should contact me privately
when we are in the ordering phase (May 1st IIRC).

Umm. Don't like it. Sending the money (if the orders are combined) for 10 to 15
Shirts in one envelope from one country to another... argsl...
I would volunteer to pool the money for Germany, and perhaps I could even
transfer it online to you, if it's possible.

Yup. Perhaps I'm not paying for 200 Shirts that way, like last year... ; )

I'm glad to see already 2 volunteers for pooling the money in Germany
(thanks :)), it will certainly ease up things.

I'm curious now, what to you mean by transferring the money online?

The sad part was I did have to return the money to the bank, but afterwards
it was kind a like funny looking back on it. You should have seen the
expression on my face when I first received your payment for your order :)))

I guess the banks in Europe are not quite ready for money transfers in EURO
yet, because I had correct quite a few of the other payments as well. The
frustrating part was that they were all in my favor (and I was really doing
the bank a favor) and when I called the main office of my bank there first
response always was: "Sir, are you sure? Because we seriously doubt that
our employees would make such a mistake!".
A few weeks later I always received the message to refund the excess of
money. I guess they did make mistakes after all, but I never got them to
admit it though :)))

I am pretty sure that's illegal in most countries as the mail doesn't always
arrive and the post office doesn't want to be held accountable.

Don't think it's illegal, but that's why it is not the safest way to get
your money across. I never had any problems with it yet though :)))

But you are right it isn't the proper way, because there are no guarantees
of delivery.

Hi,

IMO the best way would be to have Arclight or Arcaist collecting the money
for Germany and then transfer it to your bank account in EURO.
In Germany it is no Problem to use EURO for money transfers and I think in
the rest of Europe it is no Problem as well.

Ho, ho... tried it last year - resulting in the (incorrect,
of course) transfer of 1700 (!!) Euro to Sven... well,
should've been 17 Euro : )

Online banking. Hopefully pretty simple. Especially since it
doesn't involve some **** at my bank trying to read 1700
Euro instead of 17...

I'll probably send you the money in an envelope. After last years transfer
when your Bank charged you more in commissions than I'd actually sent
you...19 Euros was a bit more than I expected to pay for the shirt :)

You can count me in for at least 1 shirt possibly more, but will wait and
see what the design is like first before confirming the exact quantity. You
will have to send me your snail mail address again when the time comes as I
didn't keep it last year.

According to John Velasco, at 11:14 on 16 Mar 00, the word on the street
was...

The best way to do this is to get several of your friends interested in
the shirt as well, so you can share the bank costs. When I transferred
money to Sven's account last year, the charge was about that of a single
shirt, but because I could share it with two others who also wanted a
shirt, it worked out okay.

Of course, it gets better if the bank makes a mistake and deposits most of
the transfer fee into your account instead (as happened to me -- and they
never rectified it!).

I'm lucky enough to have a _very_ good relationship with my Bank & they
didn't charge me anything for the transfer :) It was Sven's Bank that
charged him for receiving the money...a standard fee but one that makes
small transfers ridicules as the fee charged was a little more than the
money I sent him....net result I had to pay him 9 Euros more.
